This will be the last quiz I post for a while as I will be having revisionary surgery on my stump in an attempt to sort out the long-standing wound on it and hopefully being able to use the prosthetic for the first time in over a year. I am just crossing my fingers it does not become a saga like my last stay in hospital two years ago.

1. Taking the sequence 1, 2, 3, 4. 5. 6, 7, 8, 9 using only a minimum of + and - signs get to a total of 100

2. Using the reverse sequence 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 to get a total of 100.

3. Shortly before the end of a cross country race I overtook the person in 2nd. In what position did I finish?

4. A young woman inherited five short gold chains from her grandmother. She would like to make them into one long continuous loop. The jeweller is quoting £10 for each link that is broken and remade. What is the minimum cost she can get away with?

5. What's 5-letter word can lose four letters and still sound the same?
