Just a question on Clopidogrel 75mg. I have just received through the mail Clopidogrel tablets to start taking one a day One week prior to having a Angiogram. Would this just be a precaution in case my stents do require to be increased in size??? the tablets are Film Coated and are 75mg. I think the Nurse Practitioner who called said they have to be issued first by Cardiologist then Dr for the next year !!!
It's 4 years since I have had Cloppy and forgotten a lot about it LOL
Thanks for any Replies

I have been taking Clopidogrel 75 mg one tablet each morning with water for 15 months following a TIA. I believe it is a blood thinner and have had no side effects except a slight tendency to bruise more easily. Perhaps you could ask your Nurse Practitioner why you need them ??
Thanks for your reply I have been on Clopidogrel before it is just the taking of it before the Angiogram that I wondered about., and had anyone else had it prior to a Angiogram ?
Hello Thanks for the article last time I had Angiogram and stents I took the big dose at the Hospital just prior to having the Angiogram this time it is one a day for a week prior just the way they are doing it now !!!
I had the big dose as well prior to my stent but as you have a week to wait then 75mg daily should do the same job. Basically its just to prevent clotting during the procedure and as you know if the restent then its a 12 month antiplatelet regime. Best of luck with the procedure.
It is normal to have clopidogrel before angiogram, the only difference is that you will be taking it prior, normally they make you have all in one before the procedure, if it is not planned
