Can you use clopidogrel 75mg instead of aspirin 75mg for mono antiplatelet therapy for long term use ( many years) after stent ?

Use of Clopidogrel
It was discovered when I had stent that I also had an aortic aneurysm. That was 2018 and amongst other drugs I’m on Clopidogrel and that will be for life. No side effects or issues.

I was on both after h.a. bit clopidogrel was too tough on my stomach. I did just manage to take it for the year, now only asprin. Clopidogrel is offered more for people who cannot tolerate aspirin. All the best x
Yes sure my cardiologist has also confirmed it when I asked specifically
Thanks for all your feedback, I will tell my cardiologist to put on clopidogrel instead of aspirin. I had one stent in June 2021.
Thanks for your reply. I am unable to tolerate aspirin but ok with clopidogrel.
I faced the same decision as yourself and was prescribed clopidogrel (for life), instead of aspirin. I had the gene test done, a simple blood test, that determines your bodies ability to metabolize the drug. You have one gene from each parent, you can be a poor, moderate or optimal metabolizer. It was discovered I was a moderate metabolizer, and since I would not be taking it with aspirin, it was decided for me aspirin was the more effective option for mono antiplatelet therapy. If you are taking it for life I think it would be necessary for you to have the test to make sure it is working optimally for your genetic makeup. Here is an article on the enzyme.
Yes, did this for my husband and then myself. Over 60 there are studies that Clopi is safer.
After my HA in 2020, I was put on Clopidogrel for one year and Aspirin for life. Unfortunately, the Aspirin caused stomach problems, so my consultant stopped the Aspirin and advised staying on Clopidogrel for life, so the answer is Yes.
