Switched to nebivolol from bisoprolol.

I took 1.25 of nebivolol yesterday as not been good on bisoprolol. No sleep last night and jittery anxious today plus light headed. Hope I haven't messed my system up. Back on bisoprolol 1.25 now and thinking better the devil you know. Maybe it's not a good idea to change BBs although so many people on here have switched and felt better. Beginning to think the whole BB thing is just not for me. Anyone with any similar experiences?

If you only took the new medication for one day that’s not really giving yourself time to gauge any side effects .

Totally agree, a lot of meds can take 2/3 weeks for the body to adjust, as long as any side effects aren't severe it's really worth persevering.

The jittery was probably an side effect of stopping the bisoprolol rather than an side effect of starting a new bb. Did you check with your GP before swapping back? The Nebivolol works in a slightly different way to Bisoprolol and would definitely need more than a day to get in your system. It won’t do you any good to keep swapping and changing as I thought the Bisoprolol was giving you bad side effects and that’s why you wanted to stop it. Have a chat with your GP or cardiologist about the best way forward for you.

GP and cardio said they were interchangeable...no probs .. I realise that to have continued with the nebivolol would have been going through a 3/4 weeks settle in period suffering all the side effects that would present and o can't cope with that Biso not great but can carry on till tests this month. The flat/low mood fatigue etc are marginally better . I looked at nebivolol reviews on drugs dot com and was concerned . We're all different and having to make decisions based on this forum as cardio and GP have not experienced these tablets so haven't a clue what we go through. Every person presenting with no side effects casts doubt on those of us who have them-in the opinion of the 'experts'.

I agree with all above. The effect of any medicine can stay in the body for some time, so in trying new medicine, you need sometime for your body to process the change, and to assess any side effects of the new medicine. This varies, but one day is certainly not enough. You really need advice of your GP who knows what other medicines you are on, before you make any changes, because of possible interactions with other meds.

Thank you. GP is aware of my full med history. Told me my palps could be thyroid related but only after going through the trauma of BBs. Now suggesting cutting back on thyroxin med.

I am so glad you had satisfactory explanation and treatment from your GP. It is good you have access and can see your doctor. It is impossible to see anyone at my surgery, the phone is off the hook lots of the time. I despair at times and it is a worry when I am not feeling well.
