Hello,
Been on Bisoprolol (beta blocker) for a year. Noticed it has affected my ability to do jiggery-pokery. Which is next best beta blocker, if at all, to ensure same effect on heart but reduced impact on my little superstar?

Dear DonMega,
I presume that jiggery-pokery means good old fashioned sex.
Now don’t be shy if your old enough to do it your old enough to talk about it and I would imagine that most on here would not be shocked about it.
So the problems you have you think are down to the Bisoprolol, well if its that simple then there is other versions of this { and most } drugs.
It can be an effect of this drug and many others.
But first get some help, talk to your Dr and heart team, you will not be the first person to have concerns in this dept.
I was having problems, no libido, not maintaining erections etc and I was not ready to give up sex yet as I was fit in most ways other than the heart.
So after a few talks with the Cancer Nurse, who informed me that this is common, and with a referral to a urologist things got sorted.
You will be amazed at the help out here if you just keep asking.
Get the ball rolling, it may not be the one drug, and get your love life back on track.
Take care.
Hi Don, I've been on what I have discovered is quite a high dose of Bisoprolol (7.5mg daily) for five years now, and at 76 can still perform regularly. So maybe it's not the Bisoprolol? Of course we are all different, but as others have said, why not just talk to your medics about it. They've heard it all before and can no doubt help you.
Bisoprolol did not affect me in that way. It was the Losartan that did the deed. I spoke to my GP and he prescribed the little blue pill which certainly works! Spontaneity is not an absolute necessity after almost 50 years of marriage. 😂
Hi Don Mega.I have heart disease and also take Bisoporol (only a small dose of 1.25mg ) and have similar issues.
My wife suggested spicing things up with mini skirts, stockings etc, but I think i look ridiculous.
Seriously in my case i think it's more likely to be the heart disease rather than the Bisoporol, so for me I'm not sure there is a quick answer.
Good luck.
Hi , I took for a month and had to stop as I felt so weak !!!😳😳😳 now take metoprolol as and when I need, much better ,good luck with the jiggers 🤣
It may not be anything with the heart and Bisoprolol. In the past men were shy about raising such issue with his partner leave aside his own GP. Often it was the partner who raises the issue and a amicable solution is reached. Cardiac rehab people works very closely with other disciplines like psychologist and urologist and in your case urologist would be appropriate. In the past people thought it was psychological problem but not any more. Erectile dysfunction issues are caused by circulatory problems of the muscles of the penis and there are very effective and safe drugs which can resolve the issue. You may not go to urologist - your GP with interest in that sort of affairs of love can fix it. I hope that helps.
I went to my doctor and she was happy to prescribe Viagra. A bit of tappy lappy on her computer and up comes a red flashing warning - Not to be taken when on Ranolazine. NICE website includes erectile dysfunction as a Rare side effect. Not happy, so I go home to discuss with my wife. Transpires she has her own problems "down there" and doesn't want sex anyway! Thankfully my massager still does the trick.
