Sleep Disturbance Bisoprolol?

Just wondered if this was a side effect for anyone as I am having problems having a good nights' sleep. Last night every time I started to drift off I would feel a sort of fainting sensation-hard to explain-been on Biso 2 weeks now and wondering how much longer I can tolerate it. Yes-the palpitations have died down but am hoping there's another med as my BP wasn't too high to start with and have been getting wildly fluctuating BPs-maybe that's why | get the faint feeling. If anyone has a similar sleep disruption it would be good to hear from you. Many Thanks.

I have what sounds like similar sensations soon after taking bisoprolol, too.

For me , I’m ok with it since I recognise it as being different to my “normal “ dizzinesss (resulting in falls, etc ) & a clear sign that the medication is having an effect. I take it pretty soon before going to bed so it doesn’t cause me problems related to falling /fainting but this & other side effects you’re experiencing look to be really problematic for you.

I’m hoping you’re able to speak with cardiology or a gp about any changes that can be made to your medication (and soon) so that it is actually helping rather than making you feel more unwell.

Take care

Thank you Nina. Will see how the week pans out. Speak to a cardiologist sat. . pharmacist phoning on Friday re Biso so by end of this week will be ,3weeks on BBs so will have a good idea if side effects are here to stay. I react strongly to vit supplement s so this type of med is always going to be a challenge. Could be I need an alternative med and BBs may just not be for me. Can cope with runny nose cold extremities fatigue constipation....but the light headed no sleep stuff I can't cope with. Still work part time and even struggling with that!! Stay well and will update on here as and when I have news.

I take bisoprolol 2.5 mg soon to go up to 5 mg I can't say this has been a problem, but I recently (October last ) changed my blood thinners, only until October this year and have totally restless nights with no quality of sleep. If I didn't need my medication I would love to have a week off it all in the hope I can get 1 good nights rest!!

Yes, I suffer sleep disturbance amongs a p.ethora of other side effects even on very low doses of bisoprolol. I fall asleep well (using an audiobook) to distract and relax me and then I have unpleasant vivid dreams. I usually awaken a couple of hours after falling asleep and struggle very badly to get back to sleep again. However, I am aware some people dont get this side effect so it may be worth giving yourself a couple more weeks to aclimatise before trying to change meds. I havent found anything that stops my AF any beter than bisoprolol yet). Im just hoping that after my last ablation 3 weeks ago that all remains well and I can get off the bisoprolol in a few months without the AF/AFlutter returning.Best of luck

Thank you. Apparently it's the effect on our melatonin. Some have suggested supplements one reply says he drinks tart cherry juice full of melatonin. Worth a try!
