Hi everyone I have a little question if anyone could advise me please,
I've been in hospital twice having x 2stents fitted and the last one must of been about a year ago, so I went to the chemist yesterday and the ladies said I've spoke to your doctor and he has advised stopping the BRILIQUE 90MG which I was taking two a day,I asked the ladies why and she said it's because you have been on them over a year,so I stopped yesterday,I don't know if it's just in my mind but I've had a banging head ake all night and my body has been twitching a bit as I was trying to sleep,my first question is can I just stop taking them ,and second is are there any withdrawals ,it would of been nice if the doctor rang me but quests this is how things are these days ,thanks in advance

Hi there. Way back in 2017 I had a stroke was put on Clopidogrel and was happily taking them for over 3 years even following my bypass which was also in 2017.In October last year I had to have 2 stents fitted, I was taken off my Clopidogrel and put on 2 x daily of 90 mg of Brilique and 1 aspirin daily, the repeat prescription does say that this will only be a year when I will go back to Clopidogrel.
The cardiac nurse told me that it was important to take a stronger blood thinner to stop clots on the stents while they bed in, I am certainly finding I bleed far more easily with the new thinners.
I think asking to speak to the GP about the change is very wise but I am sure coming off them will be fine and you are feeling some anxiety of the quick change.
Hi Franky. I had my heart attack and stent fitted February 2019. I was on Ticagrelor 90 mg for the first twelve months and was advised by my cardiologist to reduce the dose to 60 mg lifelong because of the stent and my family history.
