It was Christmas morning. I made a cup of tea and ate a soft buttterfly bun cake as a treat!! I thought it was a hard sweetie on top.....no, to my horror it was a bottom front tooth!! No pain though, bonus!

Sorry to hear about your tooth loss. When I was on Isosorbide Mononitrate I did not notice any dry mouth.

A friend's wife lost two teeth which was put down to dehydration. Your total fluid intake should be at least two litres per day. It has to be noted that coffee and alcohol act as diuretics which is why many have a glass of water with their expresso.

I think it may be worth trying a mouth moisturiser like Gum Hydral gel to prevent further issues. It's probably worth ringing your dentist as GPs seem to try and avoid anything to do with teeth.

Hello :-)

I am also sorry to hear that you lost a tooth :-(

I am hoping it was a back one where you will not notice it missing

Have you had clarification the med is the cause of this ?

If so and they feel it could be an ongoing thing I would ask if there is something else I could take but fingers crossed this is a one of :-)

Wishing you a Happy New Year :-) x

No it was a bottom front one! Thank goodness for facemasks!!

in reply toTricia7048

O dear I am sorry :-(

Yes a face mask will help at the moment and you made me smile as despite the distress losing it you seem you are trying to still keep your sense of humour which I have found if we can helps when things happen and hopefully they may be able to do a little bridge and put one back in :-)

I have had a bridge and you cannot tell they are not your teeth so something you could look into when the time is right :-) x

Hello Sorry to hear of your tooth loss but could you please explain how it is down to Isosorbide Mononitrate a Medication taken by Hundred of Thousands of people around the World ??

Have you reported this as a side effect of this medication ? Do you not think tooth loss could be caused by Statins or Bisoprolol ??

Personally I have been on this medication on and off for 6 years and I have my teeth !!!

Regards

I am light enough just I feel a little miffed when something is blamed without any relevant information.

The reference to Statins and Bisoprolol is a joke they get blamed for so much else !!

Phew! Thank goodness you added that bit about Bisoprolol being a joke. Have been on it for 10 years and have been having tooth problems myself recently. Was starting to get worried especially as your posts/replies always seem so knowledgeable.😮

My problem with Bisoprolol was gaining 20kg weight then bad kidney stones so had to stop it after 3 years and these are well known side effects. I hope you stay ok. Happy New Year

My toilet stopped flushing on Xmas eve. So I need to use a full bucket of water instead. Don't think I'll be able to lift that after my bypass! Don't you just love life sometimes? 🙄
