Dear Lydia_1

So sorry that you have the worry over your uncle he must be very special to you and the family.

Many on here that suffer as your uncle does will be able to answer questions for you.

Once you are diagnosed with a aortic aneurysm, your heart teams tends to keep you monitored and change drugs accordingly.

I am not medically trained so if you need answers then I cannot see anything wrong in asking his team maybe even going with him to his next appointment?

I am just here to offer support to you both in anyway I can and to tell you that you are not alone in your worrying.

Take care

Morriston has been brilliant. He’s on medication, the operation will be triple heart bypass and aneurysm repair. He lives with us and has mild learning difficulties, he’s like a second dad to me. We know his heart issues hasn’t got worse over 5 years.

He brings on phlegm often. But it’s scaring me a little I lost my own dad to cancer and upsetting.

Dear Lydia_1

You have seen a lot of illness in your time so it is really understandable that you are feeling like you do.

I had a triple bypass and all is on the mend, I wish the same for you and your dear uncle.

Take care

Hello Lydia_1

I had Aortic valve replaced and bypass done over 5 years ago. Waiting for surgery is a scary place to be, but believe me it’s not as scary as our imagination makes it.

He will have rules to follow after his surgery, no arms above his head, no lifting anything heavier than half a kettle of water, and no pulling or pushing movements. This is for 8-10 weeks while the sternum heals. Once you have a date just post and someone will be able to talk you through what happens.

Phlegm and heavy legs, are just some of the symptoms we can present, I was very breathless when climbing the stairs, and had difficulty getting rid of the fluid in my body, my heart just wasn’t strong enough, but since my surgery I am living my life again.

As for helping him, being there being a support and the loudest cheer leader😂😂

Sending you and your Uncle very best wishes.

Pauline

Thank you this helps more than you know. He’s get the feeling sick feeling everyday and due to his anxiety and worry panics. He gets quite upset. He won’t really go out much as scared with covid and his heart. He loves processed foods so trying to get him off that. The surgeon was over the moon when he saw him back in November. He said the aneurysm not growing and showed slight improvement. He has lost a lot of weight and quit smoking. We get scared to leave him for long periods of time

Lydia , I had an aortic valve replaced and an aneurysm repaired last May . If you think your Uncle's symptoms are getting worse, perhaps you should contact his GP or the heart hospital and have his medication adjusted .
