Tattoos and the ticker

Has anyone had tattoo work done after a heart issue and whilst on asprin or other meds. I have read a few cautions but wondered if anyone has any personal light to shed.

Dear PeterpPiper

hello to you, yes I am very covered with tattoos and have had work done while recovering from all the things that you know about. My tattooist had no problems and to be honest there was no more blood than usual. The scabbing and healing time was exactly the same as normal.

my surgeon matched up my chest tattoo { bit of a slimmer version of “sun rise over a Chinese pond” lol

And now my “Chinese pagoda” will be under attack when I have the Pace-maker fitted next month, the cardiologist surgeon said it would probably look more like a Chinese bungalow by the time he finishes !

You will get many that will be against you having your tattoo done, but as long as you have checked with your Dr etc and have a good tattooist, I really don’t see a problem.

Take care and let us see it when you are done

I have recently had 2 tattoos following PM insertion and have been on Apixaban for 5 years. No more bleeding than usual and healing time as quick as before. Tattooist had no issues.

No problems for me either, I’m having a full sleeve done and I’m 3/4 finished. No more bleeding than usual, healing time just the same as before HA, and medication for it.

My tattooist has asked me to get a letter from a doctor saying it's ok for me to have another tattoo, but no doctor is going to give me such a letter. I wanted to disguise my ICD scar :(

Hi Alison .. true about the doc.. good luck with your tat situation . Keep us posted.

Hi PeterPiper

Just found your post a year later.

Was told privately a few years ago by a long time kidney specialist, that he would be interested to know the long-term kidney function of multiple-tattooed person.

His theory was that the inks would put an extra strain on the kidneys.

How interesting thanks. It’s suprising if they suggest that strain is long term but kidneys do have to take a lot over the years
