UK resident. I thought I was having a heart attack called 999. Paramedidcs came out, did an ECG and they said it was probably acid reflux (which I do suffer from). I got worse later that same day so I was advised to go to A&E so I did. They did an ECG which showed i had issues so they did blood tests too. My Troponin level was 185 which is very high and that meant I'd had a heart attack. I went for surgery the next day and had 3 stents inserted into the right artery in my heart, they said id done the right thing going to A&E. I was out of hospital after 2 days and was home Christmas day afternoon. I was told my other 2 arteries are also bad but nothing was done to those. On loads of meds now. Has someone else experienced similar and should I be worried about the 2 other arteries in my heart?

Worried after heart attack
So glad you persisted, they honestly do everything that is needed. Now most treatments rely on medication. I know some who have the original problem and they are sorted, after the year of meds, all clear. Change in lifestyle is important, not all about diet and exercise, but also stress. I'm sure there are many here that will reassure you. But rely on the professional people. All the best. Moni
Dear Speedbuggy
Well that was a sharp and quick journey into the heart world and what a shock it must have been for you and still is.
Your team did everything that they could do at that moment in time and I am completely shocked at how quick it was done .
Amazing that they let you go so fast to be able to rejoin your family at Christmas { how shocked must they be ?}.
Now try not to worry about any other problems that have been mentioned at the moment, because you will be told all about that in a follow up letter or with your consultant.
I don’t know your circumstances, but normally a change in lifestyle is talked about.
The meds are there to help you and as baffling as they are, there uses will be explained to you.
Take care and hopefully you will find your answers soon, in the meantime please enjoy your life to the fullest that you can manage.
You are in my thoughts
Hi Speedbuggy,
Yes, similar. Mine was in Dec 2012.....I went in the day after Boxing Day, and I was very nearly sent home by the Consultant in charge of the Acute Assessment Unit (AAU) for the same reason you weren't taken in by the paramedics (I too have reflux...hiatus hernia). Fortunately for me, a Cardiac Registrar was certain I'd had a heart attack/ blockage, and he got on the phone to his Consultant who had to physically attend AAU to stop them discharging me.
The following day I had one stent placed in my LAD, and came home the day after that with the usual raft of meds. There was mention of other arteries not being great, but no action required. I'm sure I've got the detail in a letter somewhere. I had one follow-up appointment.
Cardiac rehab was excellent for confidence in getting moving again.
Hi. I was told by consultant that Plaque build up doesn’t happen in one particular area only but affects other ateries too. They only put stents in most severe blockages which are life threatening or are significantly blocking blood supply to heart. Rest of the blockages are left to be treated by medication.
I had over 75% blockages in 4 places and only one was stented. Two of the untreated ones are nearly 90% blocked but are very small arteries. I now live life as normal, do exercise, go for long walks etc without any much issue.
Try not to worry about those as it will make situation worse.
Look at the bright side of things. We survived and are one of the lucky ones with new lease of life.
Thank you everyone for your responses I feel better after reading them. I will need to stop stressing about it and be happy they rectified my problem. Looking forward to a better future now...
