Chest pain few days after a Heart attack

Hi everyone, my father had a heart attack two days ago, he had a blockage in LAD, which I'm told is a major artery and had a stent put in. However, today he experienced chest pain and shortness in breath, which didn't go away with the under the tounge spray ( sorry can't remember it's name) and aspirin. The paramedics said his blood pressure/oxygen and ECG were fine. However he's been taken into A&E where they will monitor his blood over night.

Is this something other people have experience?

Thank you for your reply, it really helped. My dad is home now and feeling better, well as better as he can be considering what he's been through.

I think he's still processing everything, he's been very quiet and withdrawn.

Thanks again, your help is honestly really appreciated. :)

I was getting intermittent chest pain and shortness of breath, and the conclusion was that it was probably the meds. Several weeks in and the breathlessness went away, but I still occasionally get chest pain that the GTN does not touch. An ECG confirmed everything to be okay.

What I can tell you is that the chest pain at worst is only about 50% as bad as the heart attack was, which gives me some peace of mind that it's not a repeat event.

Ah okay thank you, did you look into changing your medication or did you wait it out?

I did switch from clopidogrel to ticagrelor a couple of weeks ago (for different reasons) and after just 1 tablet went through a world of hell so switched straight back. I'm having a lot of problems with this medication, with the muscle pain being one of the more tolerable ones. Despite medical advice, I may choose to take myself off it soon.

This is only a suggestion after my husband’s experience. He had 2 stents fitted and discharged 3 days later with all the medications. He had chest pains on 3 occasions in that fortnight following discharge, and went to A&E on each occasion, and everything was normal, although he still was getting chest pain. So he put up with it, and then about 2 weeks later, a huge bruise appeared down the left side of his chest. As he was on blood thinners at the time of the stents or just after, must have perhaps bruised when moving back into the ward, and it took time to show up. Do hope all goes well for you - a very worrying time.
