Statin reaction

This may seem petty and unimportant but two years ago I had a stent fitted as I had a blockage in my LAD . Every morning I take 75m aspirin and 40g Atorvastatin. I usually take these after breakfast about 9.00 the an hour and a half later I feel spaced out. At night I take ramipril and bisoprolol. The morning reaction is getting me down. Any ideas?

Speak to your GP about changing the times of your statin, maybe try 1 hr before bedtime.

Do you drink coffee in the morning with breakfast?

That is interesting as I take 2.5 mg of bisoprolol in the morning and I take 80 m Atorvastatin at night (numerous other tablets too) I don't know why I take mine that way, I am sure I was told that was the time to take them. Definitely get some advice about changing the times.

Your supposed to take tablets for colestral at night but I take mine in the morning or have bad dreams at night. Gp said as long as I take them that's the important thing .

Best speak to GP/Pharmacist. I take atorvastatin in the evening; ramipril, bisopralol & lansoprazole before breakfast and aspirin with breakfast. No side effects for me at all.

Good luck.

As others have suggested, this needs to be discussed with your GP. We are all different, so what suits one may not suit another. I take everything (statin included - no PPI as I am allergic to them) with my breakfast cereal and follow with a cup of tea which swamps the soluble aspirin so negating any effect on my stomach. With all that behind me, I get on with my day. I'm sure others would have problems with this, but it certainly works for me.

It’s more common to take the statin at night with ramipril and the bisoprolol in the morning with the aspirin. Speak to the doc see if that might help but I doubt the morning meds are causing the spaced out feeling

I take Aspirin at night and as far as I know Stains work more efficiently if take PM, I no longer have Statins due to side effects. Do you take your blood pressure at home as it could be it’s too low and your Bisoprolol needs reducing.

I was told to take my statin before bed as they work better while you sleep

I've stopped taking atorvostatin. My cholesterol is low anyway so I couldn't see the point in having it forced on me. I was also suffering side effects from it. At the end of the day, you can choose what you take...

Reading these replies it sounds like it is a little trial and error!

Your body produces cholesterol at night therefore you must take the tablet at night.Taking them in the mornings will have little effect.
