Missed Statin

Hi I’m still pretty new to all of this.

I missed taking my statin last night. I am meant to take it before I go to bed. It is the first time I have missed any of my medication.

Should I take it this morning or should I just accept that I have missed it and maintain my normal tablet time routine?

I would welcome the advice as I’m not sure.

Thanks

Graham

Please bear in mind I am not medically qualified but this is what I would do (I am assuming it is simvastatin). The usual maximum dose id 40mg/day. So if your usual dose is 20mg and under take it now -if over just make sure you remember the next dose. You could also ring 111. Let us know what you decide.

If you have not taken anything by now you should just this evenings dose as per normal!

Normally the medication instructions advise what to do if a dose is missed. It can vary.

I have missed my Statin and just taken the normal dose at the normal time the next day. But instructions on what you should do is usually in the leaflets that come with the tablets. If you don't have the leaflet or are still worried you can ring and speak to a pharmacist.

Graham, I have missed my Atorvarstatin and Bisoprolol evening treats many a time. All I do is make sure that I take them the following day.

Thanks everyone for your comments. I didn’t double up and I held out until last night. That was also the guidance in the medicine ‘Instructions’ in the box. Thanks all.
