I found it straight forward, local injection around area. You do feel it being pushed into place, but no pain,I had a 4 lead CRT-d, it didn’t take long to fit the device and heeled quickly, I had stitches but some use glue to close the area. Compared to my bypass, it was like having an haircut, you will be fine there’s nothing to worry about. Regards Stephen

I had a three lead device fitted about a year ago. It took a couple of hours under local anaesthetic, but was quite painless. I was kept in overnight for an x-ray and setting-up procedure next morning. The site was a bit sore for a couple of days, but a few paracetamol were sufficient. You will probably get a remote monitor, which reads your device every few months. You have to be careful about lifting your arm for a few days, so think about what clothes you take. You can't drive for a week, and must notify the DVLA. I also told my car insurance people.

Hope it goes well. In my opinion, it's less unpleasant than a session at the dentists. (My next bugbear). If you are nervous, they might offer you a sedative. I found it helped.
