I need insurance for a cruise holiday. Any recommendations please as finding it very very expensive. My heart attack was 10 months ago and had Angioplasty in 2 arteries.

Depends what you mean by very expensive. Providing you're not still in treatment you're going to be spending in the region of at least £300 for a decent annual policy, but if you want to visit North America that's likely to jump to around £700. Personally if it were much cheaper than this then I'd start to get suspicious about the small print.

Some cruise companies actually include insurance, and others have special deals with insurers, so it might be worth contacting them.

Give Avanti ago, just got a decent price( annual). This company was bought out by Travel sure, who are good but Avanti was a better price, don’t ask me how. Regards Stephen

Why don't you try Staysure. I had two heart attacks and a cardiac arrest and have had stents and a bypass with an ICD implant and for european travel the cost of an annual policy for myself and my wife was under £300.00. - staysure.co.uk

I was recommended Good to Go by a travel insurance company that would not insure my partner due to his Angina & previous heart attack. It was under £80 for annual travel insurance.

Hi Dossy. It is expensive, I can't recommend anyone, but you can exclude your heart if you want to? Depends on how you feel.

Thanks for your reply. I don't think I could risk not having insurance especially on a cruise

Hi I am off to Majorca in the morning, I had a transplant last year and I find it difficult to get insurance, Just Travel is a broker and I have had good quotes from them,£70 for 6 nights it sounds a lot but when I was on the waiting list I was£240 for a week in Spain 😱no one will give me annual insurance char

I have just insured fir 2 weeks and it cost £125. With SAGA. They wouldn’t even give me an annual quote because of my history! I tried a broker - via government website - the cheapest was £170. Annual for various companies was at least £500. I had HA 11 months ago, 2 stents but because of high BO tablets and angina and diverticular disease it seems the annual risk is high 😳. Had to bite the bullet. Probably could have hit it cheaper with a lesser known company but didn’t want to risk it as - like you - first time abroad since HA.

It also depends on age. Premium shoots up over 65/70.

try Pay Too much. I had bypass 3 months ago. Cost was £60 for 1 week in Santorini

Good Afternoon Dossy. I think you will find its more expensive because your going on a cruise. Because if you were taken ill on the cruise it would be very expensive to get you off. So that maybe the reason for the high price. Hope you get something sorted. Brian

Yes it will push the price up unfortunately but understandable

I had a quote for myself and hubby for £1700. This was for a cruise to Canary Isles. I have atrial fibrillation and high blood pressure and pulmonary hypertension and he has had a mitral valve replaced and enlarged prostate.this was through Travel Supermarket. I think our cruising days are over.!! We are aged 79 and 81 so perhaps that is the reason. Hope you get sorted.
