When I sleep on left side, I feel uncomfortable, like may be heavy than go sleep right side or straight and that’s okay everything becomes normal breathing comfort and all good. Wondering why on left side, After angioplasty it’s been around one year now.

Discomfort while sleeping on left side?
Hello and welcome to the forum!
There is some suggestion that when sleeping on your left the heart can move slightly interfering with the electrical signals. Also people with heart failure can have issues sleeping on their left.
If you are concerned have a word with your GP.
Hello there all I would say I’ve not been able to sleep on my left side for sometime my issue it triggers palpitations hope it all settles for you soon 👍
Hi MichaelJH. I have also been sleeping on my right side since finding it more comfortable after my incident 8 years ago. Used to sleep on my back before then. I have heart failure and low ejection fraction leaving me breathless in some situations mainly climbing stairs. My theory was that with the heart in an elevated position it was pumping downhill rather than uphill so less strain on it and more blood going to the lungs. Unrelated but I once attended a demonstration from a chiropractor who showed that there is less strain on the skeletal frame if you sleep on your side rather than back or front. I recommend you keep sleeping lying on the right side for a win win result. It also makes for interesting debate when away from home if you share a bed with someone.
I was interested to read of your problem. I have had an internal cardiac defibrillator for 6 years and in recent months if I lie on my left side my body goes into spasms and it is very alarming. If I sleep on my back or right side there is no problem. I would ask my GP or heart consultant for advice but getting appointments nowadays is like winning the lottery.
Seeing more experiences from same challenges of others only make me feel better and happier, may be the only one good side out of social communities rather than general social media anxiety 😅
Well I'm going to be different and say I can only sleep on my left side, even before I had my pacemaker lying on my right side was very uncomfortable, I would get a heavy chest feeling and be breathless. If I inadvertently turn in the night ( very rare) I instantly wake struggling to breath.
I had 4 stents like a year ago, is that has to do something with the sleep on right side?
Yea I get palps when I sleep on my left side, and it just feels generally uncomfortable
Hi, I experience similar issue after having stent fitted. Stomach can press upwards when laying on left side, hence when sleeping on right much less pressure. Similar for indigestion and heartburn symptoms, always best to sleep in right side. Hope this helps.
Every night I become more convinced and also comfortable on Sleeping on right side much better than left. Even the sleep quality and overall freshness of waking up including limitations to bad dreaming due to stomach upset.
