Anyone experienced eye floaters. My husband has has lights and autos caused by medication but 3 weeks ago he started to experience large black floaters and squiggles in his eye. Has been checked out He was told this happens and its to be expected at his age. all with regard to the eye itself okay. But wondering if this could be caused by medication also as it came on quite quickly.

I started to get them after medication onset. Sometimes they are large enough to obscure a word on the page of something that I'm reading. I have been told that they are merely pieces of normal debris that float in the vitreous humour ... the jelly like substance behind the eye. Maybe they are more noticeable since I had my HA ... I am a little more 'aware' of everything these days. I'm 57.

OK that's fine. Just some GPs are not 100% on retinal problem. My sister had the same symptoms and they were caused by a detached retina. She was on Moorfields less than 18 hours after visiting an optician.

Hi,I have floaters. Nothing to do with medication, just a separate condition. My eyes have been thoroughly tested and are fine. I was told its just an age thing!!

I have always noticed floaters but they have increased with age. About two years ago I noticed a larger floater together with flashing lights in my peripheral vision. Most noticeable when going from a bright room to a darker area. An emergency trip to the optician identified it as a retinal tear. Referred to eye hospital where it was “stitched” with laser surgery. (An interesting experience) At several points during the day junior medics/opticians were brought in to examine the eye. I had been advised that none of them would find the affected area without detailed guidance from the experienced members of staff. This was indeed true and bears out what Michael says above. Your husband has had his eye checked by the right people and should be reassured by that but if the feeling of a curtain being drawn across the field of vision or flashing lights occur he should get advice promptly.

I have a phobia of spiders. Now after my ablation I sometimes see a spider on the walls for a second or two.

I also get silver flashing lines that last for a few minutes and it is so bad that I cannot read or watch tv.

This, I understand is a painless migraine.
