It hit me!!

I went to my Fitsteps class on Monday, it was hot, very hot. Heat doesn't normally bother me, in fact I'm quite a sun worshiper.

Despite drinking plenty about 45 minutes into the lesson I got very hot, I sat down and felt very nauseous and dizzy, no chest pain I'm pleased to say, I just felt rough.

I sat for the last 15 minutes of the lesson.

When I got home I took a cool shower and stayed out of the sun, it took a few hours before I felt good again.

I'm five weeks in from a HA and four weeks in from a couple of stents and have the pretty standard medicine cocktail following this.

Is the "over heating" a common side effect of the HA and meds?

Have a great day all.

Are you being serious?

Yep, did a class the week before and I felt brilliant.....I've never struggled with the heat before, we lived in Spain for 16 years, hence my question re the effect of the meds.

So you are 4 weeks from having Stents following a heart attack, and you are doing a fitness class during the hottest week of the year so far. You could actually let us know what meds you are on but I will guess the usual cocktail, non of them will likely cause "overheating" but the heat might. You need to be taking things easy and getting yourself back to fitness gradually, on your own and at a pace you are comfortable with. did you have any Rehab or any advice following you treatment? Most of it is common sense really though, just give yourself time to adjust you have been through a traumatic event!

Finished today's class about 20 minutes ago, a lot cooler, I sat out two faster dances and I feel absolutely brilliant, no aches or pains, no dizziness, nausea or tingles.Onwards and upwards!!

I ain't going walking the hills in the Dales for quite a long while, but I'm doing some gentle exercise which is what Fitsteps is.

Overheating can be dangerous for vulnerable heart patients. You had a HA 5 weeks ago so you need to take extra care with exercise especially in extreme heat. The heart is forced into working much harder in these high temperatures so please don’t overdo it. Exercise is so important but it must be moderate I.e. you still need to be able to hold a conversation. Good luck
