Morning, I was called for my mammogram 3 months after my surgery phoned the number on the letter and was advised to leave it for another 6 months so they made me a new appointment. I would give them a ring see what they say, if it’s still a little painful putting it back a few months might be an option.
Best wishes Pauline
Thankyou for your reply I will give them a call tomorow and see what they say.Best wishes Anne
Hi, I’m nearly 6 months post OHS and overdue a mammogram but called them and they said book it when it felt comfortable. I too still have tenderness and very sensitive skin around the wound and chest area. Will see how it is in a few months. For me it was painful at the best of times so not going to rush into it 😉
Yes I did that. Waited for the Scar to heal properly but it was rather painful because I have a Pacemaker as well. Had Letter today though and it's 'All Clear'. Just something we have to do. Had far worse!
Thankyou for your reply. I've always found it uncomfortable and often feel quite bruised after but it's worth it to be safe. I will give them a call tomorowBest wishes Anne
Oh dear I am ashamed to say that I have refused to undergo a mammogram despite being called two or three times in the past 4 years. I had ohs in June 2017 to replace my Mitral valve. I also had a pacemaker fitted.
Unfortunately because I am very thin the wires used to bind the sternum are very close to the surface of the skin and sore to touch. The Pacemaker is also visible under the skin.
My reasoning for refusal is that if I have the mammogram and cancer is found, I wouldn't have any treatment so I'd rather not go through this!
