Hi,

I live with vasospastic angina, stress and cold are the 2 big stressors for me causing a trip to A&E and hospital admissions.

I had my first mammogram 5 years ago 2 weeks after my mother had died in her late 80's of breast cancer.

I told the staff and they were so kind and gentle. They understood about how the cold effected me too.

My mammogram showed up calcifications so I spent a day having more mammograms, tests and a biopsy. Again the staff were fantastic, they understand the anxieties that all women feel but they also again acknowledged the way stress can effect those of us with angina. It was for me was so helpful. Again they acknowledged my recent bereavement and my angina. They kept me warm!

Make sure you tell the staff how you are feeling and that you have angina. I am sure they will care for you well.

All my tests and my next mammogram were normal. I did have more angina than usual. The worse part was the wait for the results. I just kept telling myself that all would be well until proved otherwise. I wasn't going to worry about something that might not happen.

I had my mammogram after my heart attack and a stent fitted.

I told the lady I had heart issues because like you I was a bit nervous. She said she knew from my notes. She said it doesn't effect the heart having it done.

She was right, all was fine.

So I would just mention your angina, but you will be ok, don't worry. 😊😊😊

Thankyou ...that helps , I think I'm just being a bit over sensitive about everything at the moment .

Of course you are, just like the rest of us when we feel other procedures may interfere with our heart issues.

This is exactly why this forum is so good, we can all advice & share from our own experiences, therefore great support for eachother.

Quite often we make eachother laugh as well with our funny little stories. Which just reinforce the fact that there is good quality happy life after diagnosis of heart issues of any kind. And how it doesn't mean other stuff such as other medical procedures, will be worse for us just because we have heart issues.

Just don't ever be afraid of asking questions from the medical profession or us guys on here. That is what we are all here for, (for eachother)

You're not being a pain, you're not being over anxious, you're not being silly, you are being normal, we are always hear to listen. As in time you will be yourself, before you know it, you will be able to advise us and all the new people to this forum, on your own experience.

Take care now, Jo 😊😊😊

I don’t have angina but my scars on my chest after heart surgery still hurt with the pushing pulling . I take some pain meds an hour prior to my mammogram the radiologist said they do this in the USA.
