Coffee Morning (inc. Garden Party)

We are now open. There are tables and chairs both inside and outside. Coffee will be served inside and all variants are available. Besides the Space Hoppers I have also laid out croquet accessible by both able bodied and wheelchair users.

The small birthday cake 🎂 is for quadruple which is 3 today, or is that 12 bypass years?

Sorry for the delay my poorly heel was being checked!

Enjoy!

So it's a happy anniversary to you & Handel.I also have a small event to celebrate today! Just gotta pop out to a certain shop beginning with 'M' for provisions & will be along soon.

Ah, My Waitrose! 😁

Lezzers profile image

No, it also has '& S' that goes with the M 🤔😁

Morning! Congratulations on your anniversary. 👍 Not feeling much like croquet today but I’ll just sit & watch with my coffee. Unless Lezzers fetches the gin in which case I may be persuaded to indulge 😉.

Good morning! Happy anniversary to you and the good lady .

Millie has grown. She's grown into a very gentle calm dog with still a touch of mischievousness.

Oh she’s gorgeous 😍

My raspberry Victoria Sponge arrives conveniently pre-sliced for easy-serving.

I chose this cake in part to honour the memory of the lads who didn't make it home 77 years ago and in part in honour of the men who did - I honestly think the lost men would say the survivors were the real heroes as they came home, war-scarred yet ready to take up their pre-war lives, and raise us - their children. Never Forget!

And Happy Heartiversary!

How did the heel check go?

Milkfairy profile image
MilkfairyHeart Star in reply toSunnie2day

My late father was one who came home.

Sunnie2day profile image
Sunnie2day in reply toMilkfairy

Mine as well. May they rest in peace.

080311 in reply toSunnie2day

My Dad too came home, went over at plus 4 he never spoke of it, but every 11th November he would wipe away a tear.

Sunnie2day profile image
Sunnie2day in reply to080311

If your dad was anything like so many of our dads, he rarely if ever spoke of his war experiences. He was also in the Ardennes that horrible December 1944, never spoke of it. After he passed and we were clearing his house we found 86 pair of socks in his press and his medals - medals we didn't know he had as the only 'decoration' he ever wore on Remembrance Sunday was a poppy.

Think that generation were very much of the same mind. Cut from the same clothe.

MichaelJH profile image
MichaelJHHeart Star in reply toMilkfairy

Mine did and surprisingly never suffered more than cuts and bruises whilst those next to suffered serious injuries and not infrequently. However, I will not dwell on what he told me about his experiences as some were stomach churning.

MichaelJH profile image
MichaelJHHeart Star in reply toSunnie2day

The heel is very sore but hopefully a bed sore can be averted!

Sunnie2day profile image
Sunnie2day in reply toMichaelJH

A patch of lambswool makes a very comforting 'wrap cushion' for that sort of thing - did they offer you one or do you have someone who can get one in to you?

080311 profile image
080311 in reply toSunnie2day

That’s a great idea, my Mum ended up bed ridden and we got a sheep skin for her to lie on she never had one bed sore.

I have fished my slice of birthday cake (based on a lemon drizzle base). May I try a piece of yours Lezzers? I have opened up the alcohol free Sauvignon Blanc if anybody fancies a glass? 🍷

Good to see you 'out and about' at this event, michael. Sorry to hear you are still suffering. Can I have some extra vitamin c (coffee) as I don't drink? Think I might try my hand at croquet, always fancied having a go at that. X

MichaelJH profile image
MichaelJHHeart Star in reply toNettekin

What coffee would you like? American, cappuccino, latte, flat white, wobbly white (Lezzers has had a few gins!), etc.

Nettekin profile image
Nettekin in reply toMichaelJH

Wobbly white sounds like fun, can I have chocolate sprinkles on top?

MichaelJH profile image
MichaelJHHeart Star in reply toNettekin

No worries. We also have Ex Lax ones for someone special! 😁😁😁

In my local cafe they call them Portuguese custard tarts. Lovely little treat but sadly permantly closed. Owner was in coma for months during lockdown but no idea if CovID related.

Could eat those I 'til they came out of my ears. Is it ok if I am a philistine and have lemonade in my port?😊

Milkfairy profile image

They are lovely.

I don't think I could possibly comment about lemonade and port being in the same glass at the same time 😂

I’m sorry I didn’t make it but sounds like you all had a good time. I had an invitation to my daughter’s impromptu birthday barbecue so I was busy making veggie kebabs this morning to take with us. It was lovely to see my grandsons too. Just to meet in person and not FaceTime. I loved the veggie kebabs and burnt tomato sausages. They were yummy.

MichaelJH profile image
MichaelJHHeart Star in reply toMaisie2014

I am afraid all the Gin has gone but coffee and tea are available as is alcohol free Sauvingon Blanc. Can also do a ham 'n' cheese croissants, toasted tea cakes, a few Portuguese custard tarts and a few slices of Lezzer's M&S cake...

Should be lots of loo rolls left, spiritofthefloyd didn't turn up, no need to do a count up!!

😁

I just smiled. Someone was send to apply moisturiser to my sore heel and put on the sheepskin protector. They then went to do my other heel, lifted the blanket and looked around not realising I have but one! 🤣🤣🤣

Best laugh I had since using the prothesis was when I reversed the foot and walked down the corridor getting some very puzzled looks! 🤣🤣🤣
