Hello Peter... Some years ago I created a virtual Cafe Bar so members could drop by and communicate with others outside of the Question/Advice format. This proved very popular but the software struggled so I started doing one off BBQs, beach bars, etc. Some people with heart disease and/or carers felt they benefitted from it and the BHF that there were mental health benefits. I haven't run one for a while as CovID caused a lot, of understandably, negativity. In the middle of it all my big toe ulcerated which lead to a BKA (below knee amputation) on the left. Anyway I thought it was time to try again. Feel free to drop in and out as you wish. 😊
Thanks Michael. I’m sorry to hear about your BKA.Tell me how we get in to the virtual coffee bar, is it hosted somewhere else or do we just simply log on here ?
If you 'follow' MichaelJH, you'll get an email to your personal email inbox every time he starts a new discussion including announcing the virtual meet-ups.
As for how it works - you simply arrive to the discussion, read-reply-post a new comment.
And of course it is 'good manners' to bring along your favourite indulgence - no calories-salt-fat grams in scrummy guilt-free virtual treats and you can have as much of Lezzers' gin as you like if you drop in later in the afternoon
I'm bringing a Victoria Sponge (raspberry). For the BBQs I usually bring pre-silked and foil wrapped corn-on-the-cob, a treat my real-life aged teeth haven't managed easily since around 2010, lol!
Thank you for clarifying that. The phrase “I will let it run through the afternoon “ led me to believe that it was a zoom like occasion, but rather it’s a general post? Thanks again.
Yes, it's a general post like this, where we talk about anything other than heart issues. ie conversation generally revolves around food and drink that is now off-limits, but in the virtual world is fair game. So I will try to bring a large trifle with whatever alcohol I can find in my virtual drinks cabinet!
I’ve just started a new batch of rhubarb gin but it won’t be ready for Sunday. I do still have a little of my first bottle left. That would be lovely on a warm morning. Can I bring that?
You absolutely deserve a share of the gin!! Congratulations on your anniversary and fortitude!! 47 years is an amazing achievement, I hope to match it but got a way to go yet xx
It's started bright and sunny so I will put some tables and chairs outside. It did start as a coffee morning but the "gin gals" want a garden party. We still have the Space Hoppers from 2019. Anybody want a go - I am a disaster since I became a monoped! 🤣🤣🤣
