Hi I had surgery two years ago aortic valve replacement etc. Had a set back as my heart rhythm isnt good. Have received letter that im being referred to a specialist for possible ICD implantation...

I'm feeling that after I've got over one thing another comes along. I'm back doing my garden business but know I still struggle.

Was pretty low after the letter arrived.

😔😔🙄🙄

Afternoon,

I can understand what you say about getting one thing sorted and then something else happens. I would look at it that they are taking care of you, if the consultant says you need one then they know what is best as you say you have been struggling, so this is going to help so that as got to be good thing.

I really wish you all the best you came through OHS so this will be a breeze. Take good care.

Best wishes Pauline

Hi. I also had an AVR and had to get a pacemaker afterwards. It's quite common to have this because when they do the operation they go close to the nerves which control your heart rhythm and they can be stretched and/or nicked. The pacemaker means that your heart rhythm is back to normal and that prevents further problems. The procedure is quite simple. They use local anaesthetic and slip the pacemaker under the skin. Afterwards you have to keep your left arm at no more than a 90 angle for a bit whilst the wires attach, which can be a bit frustrating. There are also things like avoiding getting wireless devices close by, generally that doesn't bother me though.

Not what you're looking for?
