Hello I'm new here and just trying to get some advice, I got severe flu some years ago and had to see a heart specialist, after lots of tests he said that the virus had damaged the sinus node in my heart and left me with inappropriate sinus tachycardia, I was so poorly I felt like I was dieing , i thought I may recieve a government letter to self isolate for 12 weeks but I havnt and as i am a key worker in my local hospital I'm terrified at the thought of what covid 19 would do to me , has anyone else with this condition received a letter? Many thanks for your time

I have had inappropriate sinus tachycardia for many years and I can't function with it. I get breathless and dizzy.

I too have not received a letter but I was not expecting one as it is not life threatening.

Thank you for your reply, I just worry as the flu did that to my heart and has left me with high blood pressure, with also having asthma it's a very worrying time

I’ve also been so worried about getting this virus, I had 3 bad colds just before Christmas and they totally knocked me off my feet and it took me a long time to recover from them, I know now it was because of my condition but didn’t know I had got all this going on at the time. It’s soo scary for us all right now. Stay safe.

I started with inappropriate sinus tachycardia but when I went for my annual check this year I mentioned I was getting very breathless and so my consultant referred me for another echocardiogram (I had one last 8 years ago) and they picked up I had a hole in my heart. Therefore, I would just mention at your next appointment about your breathlessness to make sure they have covered all bases.

Take care🌈

Yes, I have been worried about my breathlessness that started a year ago.

Spent a week in hospital undergoing many tests and nothing odd was found.

My last test was a MRI scan but that was 5 months ago and despite my GP's efforts I have still not got the results.

I had many tests too and was also in hospital a week and nothing was found then. It is only now that the hole and the heart have nothing enlarged that it has been picked up now. That’s awful that it’s taken this long and you still haven’t got you’re results and unfortunately I doubt you will get them any time soon with what is going on now. Have you had an echocardiogram? 🌈

No, but I did have an angiogram that found nothing amiss hence I was sent for the MRI that is supposed to show more. They called me back a week later to redo the scan and this got me worried. Now not getting the results is making me more concerned.

I would see it as a good sign as think they would have called you back fairly quickly if they had picked anything up. Fingers crossed.

I have sinus tachy too. Mine was diagnosed back in sept 19. I was 36 weeks pregnant at the time and i was very big because baby was big. I had bad palpitations all through the pregnancy so ended up on beta blockers. I also have asthma and im a carer in the community. I haven't recieved a letter and i dont think i will. Im on maternity leave still so can avoid working at the moment. I have decided not to return to work as i have these health issues, a baby and 2 other children with autism so its in my best interests i dont. However if concerned maybe phone your gp. Good luck to you and stay safe. As a key worker thankyou for continuing to help those around you. You are all heros xxxxx

Thank you so much Danni, my GP has been great I have had to stay home with severe anxiety as I've been so worried I've made myself sick , you are making the right decision to keep you and your family safe , take care and stay safe xxx

I also have inappropriate sinus tachycardia and only a month ago also found out I have a hole in my heart and heart failure , which I know now accounts for my tachycardia, it just wasn’t picked up when I was first diagnosed 8 years ago. However, I too haven’t received a letter and am struggling even to get to speak to my new consultant to find anything out.

Could you possibly speak to your GP? I'm not sure if they could give you a doctors note so you can self isolate, my heart goes out to you its such an awful time , stay safe x

I’m very lucky as my work have been brilliant and I have been self isolating for about a month anyway, but it’s a good job I didn’t need a letter. However, I don’t think if it was just the tachycardia that I would have been , so although it’s been tough having this bombshell dropped then left to it at least I knew to keep myself safe.

Thank you.
