Off to the Eye Hospital today to get a cataract removed, the Nurse who phoned went through my history and just said so you won't be worried about this then

I just said you read my history and you would expect me to be coming in a Wheelchair or on Two Sticks so we had a laugh should be Home by 6pm .

Ouch (my dad said he felt as though he still had sand in his eye only painfully more - took a week or so for that discomfort to pass) but YIPPEE, fully restored sight in that eye, how fabulous for you!

Keep us posted on your progress.

Hi Retirement

5 years from first told I had the start of one until it had really started to affect my vision. What I noticed was I couldn't read the ticker along the bottom of the screen on Sky News etc Except if I covered my Right eye I could read them fine, it seems that is a classic it was ready to be removed.

I will post tomorrow on how it's done etc !!!!

Had cataracts in both eyes done over two years ago. I was petrified the first time and asked for sedation but declined sedation for the second one. Very straightforward except that the operated eye had better vision until the second one was done so my specs weren’t much good at that point. Only bugbear were the eye drops 3 times a day for a month but luckily my wife administered them.To anyone putting off this surgery - dont. Take the opportunity as soon as it is offered. It really makes a difference. Everything is so much more colourful now and I never need to change spectacle prescription.

Hi Just like to add the Sky is now Bluer with the corrected eye than it is with the good eye lol .

My wife puts the drops in I was given a chart to just tick off the drop Brown bottle 3 x a day and Blue bottle 4 x a day it makes it easy to keep trackI was lucky that Bournemouth put me to a Private Clinic Optegra Hampshire for the procedure as the waiting list at Bournemouth is Months and Months.

They were running late when I got there and when they apologised I just said your not Late your 96 days early from my appointment in Bournemouth.

Thank you Government / NHS for moving the waiting list along.

Eye a little sore today and slightly blurred but hey it's only 24 hours since being done !!
