Firstly thank you everyone for all your messages, I've just turned on my phone and I have 51 notifications on this page ❤️ so thank you again. I haven't replied but I've tried to like them all. I may have cried reading them
I had a stent this morning, again the doctors and nurses were lovely, as I was very nervous about only having a local anaesthetic (I would have been just as nervous if not more with a general) one nurse got me talking about history and my favourite period. Before I realised what was happening they were halfway through.... (I can talk for ages about history)
I'm tired and a little sore but I think that's from the CPR. My chest had been tight until during the surgery I realised my chest wasn't tight. The consultant said that's a sign it's working. I've spoken to Mum and she's coming to visit me this afternoon so I'm going to sleep until she arrives then I'll probably need a rest after.
Thanks again for all the messages

So pleased and great sign your chest doesn't feel tight so quickly Rest up up, you will soon be back out there on parkruns and your students will love having you back
Hello
I have kept popping on today just to see if there was an update from you and so glad there is as I have been hoping to hear how you are
I knew you would be able to do it and getting you talking on your No1 subject while they were was a great idea they did the same with me when doing an angiogram and even at times when I did not feel like replying I am like you can talk for England on subjects I like
Bless you so much I think the stent was what you needed and now it is in there the only way is up for you
I also think maybe Mum is eventually going to take you home with her when you get discharged and cooking those healthy meals but you will know and be prepared for that one already
I hope all your notifications you have had when you put your phone back on shows you how much we all care
Rest up now and you will soon be home ( or maybe Mum's for a while ) x
It's like you know my Mum 😃😂 she's already hinted yesterday that I should go to live with her for a few days, I should imagine to cope with the stress of my surgery this morning she would have started cooking (she cooks most when she's stressed) so I'll be well fed for a good year lol.
Well maybe I am starting to get to know her as she has always been your No 2 subject
I know she drives you mad at times but if it were me after what you have just been through I would go and stop with her for a while you could do with someone with you till you get back on your feet
By the way your post the other day made me laugh when you said even though everything you were going through that you did not have to worry about Mothers day as your Mum was going to do the Spanish one in May but the bit that made me laugh was you said the year before she wanted to celebrate the English and Spanish one
So yes I am getting to know her and she must be so proud to have a Daughter as brave as you x
I know I talk about her alot, she does drive me crazy (and the 2nd biggest cause of my stress) but I love her.
I had already decided before she hinted, that I will probably stay with her when I get discharged.
With mother's day it's a weird one, when I was little we always done the British mother's day then when I moved to Spain with her when I was a teenager it made sense to do that one. When I moved back to England I'd text her on both. Last year I said what one did she want to celebrate and she said both (to be honest I would have said the same) when I asked her this year she said Spanish (means I can get cheap gifts now and give it to her in May 😏😉)
You have not lost your sense of humour having this stent
Made me laugh again saying means I can get cheap gifts and give her them in May
I hope she never comes across this account while you are not looking one day or I think we will all be in trouble
I know you love her I think maybe you could both be more like each other than you think as my Daughters have a lot of my ways and we can clash and when we do it is like Bonfire night going of but we are similar x
Mum's told (not asked) me when she visited me I was moving in with her for at least a month... She is now extra worried as I said "Okay that's fine" without arguing with her 🤣
I need a taxi driver for a few weeks anyway don't I so a month is okay with me (just) you may find me "Resting" in my room a lot.
I'm not like her 🥺 okay we're both stubborn 😂 and never back down.
Glad she told you and did not ask sounds like she is on form with that one
And a free taxi , free meals , free heating and all the rest let's think of the positives and the money you will be saving and with that money you could either get your Mum some more cheap presents for May or treat yourself to something really nice after all you have been through
I possibly would go for the latter out the two myself x
So glad to read this post Valentina , I have to admit I cried reading your posts ,how frightening that must have been for you . So glad you are on the road to recovery. Everyone on this forum I'm sure will join me in virtually wrapping our arms around you to give you a big hug 🫂 sending you lots of love & healing xxxxx
Hi, so good to hear you are recovering. Now is the time to rest and rebuild your strength. Sleep well if you can, eat well, and exercise all in good time. X
My favourite is the history period is the Tudors but I'm currently teaching the Norman conquest so I talked about both those, we did cover the Middle Ages as well.
Mum's gone now and told (not asked) me I was moving in with her for at least a month... She is now extra worried as I said "Okay that's fine" without arguing with her 🤣
I need a taxi driver for a few weeks anyway don't I so a month is okay with me (just) you may find me "Resting" in my room a lot.
I'm going to start volunteering when I'm up to it. Then eventually I'll walk it again, then one day I'll run it. But no timetable just when it feels right
So glad you have come through it all. It has hit me all day. It is incredible what they can do today. But the most important thing is to take care of yourself. You get better. History is a subject I love and Egypt is my main interest. But I live near a roman Fort and I always try to imagine what it was like in its day.
Such good news! Really hoping that the worst is over for you now and you can concentrate on getting better and achieving all those things you want for yourself going forward into the future.
That’s amazing news. You are super brave but also super positive exactly what you need to survive your recovery and sometimes people fussing can be lovely and stressful at the same time. Take care 💖
Hi valentine,Im So pleased you got a stent and you are now on the road to recovery.
you will be tired for a wee bit once you get home but it's a quick recovery. What hospital did you get your stent in? I got mine in the royal in Edinburgh In 2021 and again in 2022. Its all over now so time to rest and recover. Good luck and take care. Xx
It seems to me that people who live in England have a better experience in hospital? unfortunately, for many of us, the hospitals here are not that great. I have had 2 stents now and 3 coronary angiograms. very different experience each time. I would have loved to have had what sounds like the most amazing support from a nurse. It didn't happen for me im afraid. It can be a very unpleasant, scary, and uncomfortable experience, and I think that sometimes the team in the lab are so used to doing these procedures all day long, that they forget it is a human being lying on the table. Im so glad you had a good experience.
Just read the updates after a few days away. Blimey you have been through it and at such a young age. However time and your youthfulness is on your side and you will be back at that Park run before you know it. Get plenty of rest, having spanish blood will mean Siestas are second nature ! 😆. Funnily enough I hated history at school in fact I dropped it. Then again I didn't like Secondary School much at all. I managed to pass the 11 plus (showing my age !) and went to Grammar School. I was like a fish out of water there and all my mates went to the local comp and I lost touch with many of them. Funnily enough I love history now, especially Henry the eight and his exploits. We were in London recently and loved Hampton Court and the Tower of London. Get well soon and keep us updated.
I've always loved history, never did great at it in secondary school as my Dad was head of department so the teachers were extra hard on me. But I aced my exams and a level. I even did a dergee in history at University. The Tudors are my favourite period. But then I could say that about a few periods.
I am so happy that you got your stent and that it went well. Sounds like it is onward and upward from here.
Sometimes we all need a safe and soft place to land for awhile, and it sounds like your Mom will provide that for you. So, rest, relax, enjoy and appreciate the love and care that you will receive.
I am sure that you will soon be back living your best life! In the meantime, this might be a great opportunity to watch a few history documentaries, read some new books, chat with old friends, etc. Best wishes!
I'd love to go back to Wales especially to walk up Snowdon that part might be in a while but I'll definitely come back without school kids in tow this time
We were in Prestatyn and one of the days we went to Caernarfon Castle driving along and it was all hills then suddenly it looked like the alpes had been superimposed on the skyline, it was a beautiful sight of a snow covered Snowdon. I'm not sure I got a photo of it.
Wonderful news. I'm sure yo u ' ll be in for a few days getting tests but what an improvement. Those nurses are utterly brilliant at distracting people aren't they? Mine had me talking about dogs and foreign languages. (I'm learning Norwegian)
