I have had a heart condition for the last 6 years and suffering from AF and now have an I CD unit fitted. I was coping really well before having my ICD but I’m struggling with getting back on track with fitness. I love to swim, walk and be active. Been 6weeks since my operation. Would love to know more about how to live with AF and an IC D unit.

Hi I had an icd for years, it was for severe heart failure and cardiomyopathy, I just done everything I could do, I swam in the sea every year on holiday, although I made sure I was with someone or at least someone was keeping an eye out in case it fired, all was fine, I never go to the swimming baths but they always have a life guard so I would imagine it would be ok, I drove as much as I always have done and never really thought about the icd much, except as my little insurance policy, if something did go wrong I new it was there, it gave me more confidence, I was never one for the gym but I try to walk as much as I can which I just do by myself , I live on my own so I was really glad I had it char
Hi had CA in 2018 and started Afib last August. Had cardioversion in October and been relatively ok since. When I first came out of hospital after CA i couldn't walk to the end of the road, you have to push yourself but you know when you've had enough. I play golf and it took me a few months to get back playing, you just have to persevere, there is no easy solution . The important thing is don't give up . Good luck
