On the list for an ICD

Hi All, I was diagnosed with Heart Disease (Dilated Cardio Myopathy (DCM)) 16 years ago after an episode of Atrial Fibrillation (AF) which was fixed with a chemical conversion (Amiodarone) and have been stable until recently. I've been on Beta Blockers and ACE inhibitors to manage the condition. I had an an episode of Atrial Fibrillation (AF) in December 2016 which was sorted with Cardioversion. Following an MRI Scan my consultant has put me on the waiting list for an ICD. I've found the posts and questions really useful on here. :-)

Hi Wodney, I hope the cardioversion and change in meds sorts you out. I'm on 10mg of Bisoprolol. I've been told if I have repeat episodes I may need ablation treatment. Only time will tell.

Hello. You've probably read replies from me in the other ICD posts here (glad you've been finding them useful) but just in case, thought I'd say hello, I have an ICD and it's all good :) Feel free to fire any questions my way.

I had a ICD and wen I was able to have it removed it hurt thoughout my body. My minster at church has to have hers replaced every 10 years and warmed me the pain would be bad.

It's always the waiting that is the worst part of anything. Embrace the technology i say :-)

Hi Dave..... welcome to the forum... which I recently found too and it's a great support network. It's great to talk to others who have a real understanding of what you are going through. I too have recently had an ICD fitted. Any questions you have we are all here to help.

I have a pacemaker fitted 6 months ago. Seems fine but prefer not to have it. Is ICD more invasive, or very different?
