Gastric issues.

Hi, do/have any of you had any issues with recurring heartburn/acid reflux? On the full range of heart meds having had 4 stents fitted in 2017/18. Also have mild aortic stenosis. I am on Omeprazole with limited effect. Recently discussed with my GP (via phone) whether my 75mg Soluble Aspirin daily might be contributory and if an enteric coated version might be an option. He said he would think about it. Has anyone any advice or suggestion. I have a Cardiac Consultant annual check up via phone on Thursday.

Morning I have issues with this, my cardiologist upped my lansoprazole from 30mg once a day to twice a day, I also got an endoscope and it turns out it is caused by gastritis, possibly due to all the meds, if it gets bad she said just to take gaviscon as well, I no longer take aspirin not because of it, I don't need it anymore, it has settled down at the moment, char

Have you been told it’s ok to give up aspirin

Hi I took it when I had heart failure but I have had a transplant now and it was just taken off my list of meds, I never really asked about it I just assumed I don't need it now, but I still have problems with my stomach, char

Hi! This question pops up so often so you’re not alone. I’m a flag bearer for the enteric coated Aspirin. Like you, I’m stuck with this miracle tablet but my tummy couldn’t cope with the dissolvable one. All the “...zoles “ didn’t help. I buy the coated one over the counter (£1.20) and not looked back. Gp fine with this but due to nhs Scotland guidelines couldn’t prescribe coated aspirin at that time because it’s dearer than the soluble one. 🥴

Good luck and remember and take it at the same time as your breakfast.

Thanks. Always take with breakfast. I am certain that Gp’s reluctance re enteric coated Aspirin is based on cost. 😀

Yes I think I will have a go with the coated one. Do you take it with food?

Have the same issues with medication. Living on gaviscon at the moment. I do have the entric coated aspirin but have ended up in A and E loads of times to be told it is acid reflux. Had 2 endescopies and could find any problems. I know it is the medication but dont know what one is causing the problem. Take aspirin pantaprezole ramipril bisoprasole riveroxabin diazepam for anxiety. Rehab nurse who deals with medication said if she gave me a placebo I would get side effects.

Many thanks. It is annoying when you cannot be specific enough with the symptoms to then explain it to a GP, as often they subside just when you get to talk to someone.

Spoke to doctor today and have given me gaviscon. A bit worried about it as I have to take it every night and it is hogh in salt. I think the Ramipril is causing it but was changed to lorsartan that gave me really bad upper back pain so gone back to ramipril. Had STMI heart attack 4 stents over a yeat ago havent seen a cardiolagist since. Not a lot of help from any where, but dont think it is the aspirin as get bad ingigestion in evening after medication take entric coated aspirin in morning after eating.

Every medication I take lists indigestion as side effect, even the ppi that I take twice a day. Make sure you eat before you take aspirin. Life. Sucks at the moment, not a lot of help out there. Hope you get your problems sorted.
