I am currently under investigation for some heart issues. Over a few months a few different tests were administered.To stay protected while all the tests are compiled I was put on a few different medications. Put on Clopidogrel( Plavix),Rosuvastatin( cholesterol) and Bisopropolol. I think one of these is giving gastric issues with very frequent visits to the Loo and lots of gas.Has anyone else experienced something similar?

Thanks very much will check with my Dr as I am prednisone for auto immune disease so not sure
Are you only on the meds you mentioned, or as you added prednisone do you take others as well?
I am Pred and the meds I mentioned and weekly injections of Actemra a biologic for PMR and GCA.Have been onPred and Actemra for a year and the 3 mentioned for 4 weeks when my issues started
Thanks for suggestion
I am having similar problems, and have bisoprolol in common. It's probably worth mentioning it to those monitoring your condition though.
I really feel for you. I’m afraid I had an awful time on most of the drugs after my bypass. In hospital they thought I had novovirus and isolated me ! They tried also to isolate the drug which was causing the problem and after weeks of an upset bowel and also having to take anti sickness pills the cardiologist at my post op inspection put me just on aspirin and now a year later I feel fine. However in your case it means discussing options and trying alternatives
Join the club .. I have been on a similar cocktail for nearly a year.. for the first few months it was like having IBS but I decided to stick with it and now the gastric side effects are totally gone. Hope that’s helpful. Hang in there .
PS as you may remember- one year ago was exactly the wrong time to need extra loo roll ::)))
I suffer really bad with gastric issues, sometimes my stomach, sometimes chest area but mainly on left side of chest, it scares me to death thinking its my heart, my cardio nurse does not think its heart related, I am yet to be convinced. I eventually do let out a belch which relieves me but still should not be happening, my doctors toldne to google IBS and were dissmisve and said take 8 buscopan a day. I am hoping its tge clopidogrel as stop that drug next month.
Hi, funnily enough, I'd never had any issues before (I mean with burping), but when I was diagnosed with the valve repair, I started belching like a sailor - thankfully not as bad now, but I find it happens every now and again. I don't know if this is to do with stress or medication, but I'd like it to stop
Hi Darcy,Just want to share my experience, maybe you can relate to that. It is now well known that women’s heart problems are much more related to ‘stomach’ upsets, because the blockages seem to be further from the heart.
My symptoms started initially with what I thought was stomach upset. 2 years down the line after many ecgs and echocardiogram I was diagnosed with an angiogram to need bypass surgery. By then I had 5 blockages of which 3 were 95 to 99% closed. I used the gtn spray whenever I had a flair up of my ‘stomach’ pains and found that it helped. Even a cardiologist was sure that my symptoms were related to gastrointestinal problems. After the surgery I felt like a pair of rodents were chasing each other in my intestines. Finally, after 3 months, being on lansoprosol instead of omeprazol, my stomach and intestines have settled. I am on a cocktail of drugs and my surgeon changed the meds that complement each other better.
Thanks so much for that interesting post. I hope things have settled in the heart department for you . I hope she removes some of these meds when the tests come back that my coronary arteries are clear which one test has already done Now the concern is the carotid artery.. some blockage there .
I can sympathise. I have been on a cocktail of meds for the past year including Clopidogrel, Atorvastatin and Bisoprolol. I have recently gone onto Eplerenone. I’ve had stomach issues on and off during this time, including diarrhoea and wind/gas.
I have had the same problem my Dr doubled the dose of Omeprazol and gave me Gaviscon as and when I needed; The other thing I have is always feeling hungry don't know if this has anything to do with the drugs but it has only happened since I started taking them before that I ate very little;
I needed omeprazole too as i had the worst acid reflux and wind...it definitely helped. Good luck.
