Dapagliflozin Week 1

Thought it might help if I logged my experience with Dapagliflozin for heart failure.

I'm 62, male and with a CRT Pacemaker and an ICD. I have low LV performance and suffer from breathlessness, tiredness, water retention and some nausea due to the tablets I take. I don't have or never have had Diabetes.

My prescribed Dapagliflozin is 5mg daily (morning). Its a little yellowish tablet. Tasteless with no issues with swallowing.

I have been warned that I may get infections of the 'joy department'. For some reason I keep referring to it as a STD when I should be calling it a UTI ! My doctor assures me that as a man I have less chance of getting this. My wife says, I'm such a big wuman means I will definitely get it!

I live in Scotland and had to put up quite a fight to get this drug. From my research this drug will cost the Scottish NHS £480 / year.

More next week.

I was started on the 5mg tab. My Heart Nurse told me it would be increased to 10mg in 3 weeks time if it behaves itself.

Did you notice any improvement? What dose are you on?
