Need some practical advice

On March 9th I went into hospital with chest pains. On the 13th I was discharged with a diagnosis of unstable angina, with some new pills called Nicorandil and a summary discharge letter. I have had an echocardiogram and a heart CT. Since I was discharged I’ve heard nothing - no outpatient appointment, no results of the tests, no advice on managing symptoms.

So these are the practical questions that I have, and would be grateful for any advice.

Weight gain of about 6/7 lbs, though I’ve been eating less rather than more

Swollen feet and ankles that get worse as the day goes on. My right foot is worse than the left and slightly blue. Shoes are a problem as I struggle to get them on after midday. Socks leave weals and are really uncomfortable

Waist bands and underwear are also an increasing problem, and too tight so the water? is mainly collecting in my feet, midriff and across my chest.

Breathlessness, even after a short exertion, so I have to rest after washing up etc

Feeling odd after meals - another rest needed.

Apart from that of I do think the Nicorandil and the GTN are helping and I’m more comfortable in some ways.

The hospital also sent me out with bleeding kidneys and an infection. Their urology department has been wonderful. Tests, appointments, phone calls and an informative letter. They have explained the problem, given me the results of the tests and taken the time to answer my questions.

I’d contact your gp straight away or call 111 for advice.

Thank you. Have talked to GP who is chasing up cardiology. She’s not too concerned about all the swelling and bruising and prefers it if the specialists get more involved.i

You need to see a cardiologist ASAP you could have pericarditis as l had also blocked arteries you must ask them for the cause of your problems and not be fobbed off with just pills you need tests. Good luck and I hope you can get some answers

Even my GP has heard nothing from the cardiologists. We are both surprised that I’ve had two expensive tests and neither of us have been contacted since. An email and a letter have been sent so I’m hoping for news next week.
