I am due to have pacemaker lead extraction in two weeks , then new leads and a CRT-D. Any experience of this anybody???

Hi - I had the same as you are having, about 8 days ago. The procedure itself was fine, in fact better than having the original pm put in 2 years ago. The device is a lot bigger though, and I am still getting to grips with that. If you have any more questions let me know.

It's the lead extraction that makes me nervous. One of my leads has been in since 1986. It needs to come out for the new ones to go in. They have told me there is a 2% chance of mortality!

I wouldn't be too concerned, they would never do it if they thought it was risky. I was told the lead could stay in if necessary and if I wanted it to. I have read accounts of some people having up to 10 redundant leads inside them!
