Entresto a Jekyll and Hyde medication

i am experienced at taking and dealing with side effects. over many years of over 20 meds per day. only 2 meds have ever beat me one was Amiodarone and the other entresto . both meds had my sight fading fast over 4 weeks and also breathing, and to top it off kidney failure. I know that they both did a great job on controlling my heart but the price in more bad health was to high, personally I think the way of the future is stents and stem cells as taking meds orally means there is always places in ones body to attack in a bad way. Maybe future meds will be better and use the tech of a cruise missile aiming just for the target.so we would have to divert all the war purse and defence money into health research, sounds ok to me....did you notice how I sneaked a anti war bit in at the end

hi my eyesight is still repairing the worst day which not long ago both eyes filled with blood ,the med opens the vains to get blood flowing for the heart but unfortunately it opened the blood supply to my eyes as well ,,,,overall as i am severe when it comes to enclosed spaces so to lose my sight is not anything i could let happen and told the doctors that i would rather leave the earth than go blind so i am back on my old reliable med ... ramipril

Hi there. You replied to my post a few weeks back when I was having some pretty bad side effects with Entresto. Two weeks ago after a blood test, I was told to discontinue use as my kidneys had been badly affected. Two weeks and two blood tests later, my kidneys have not recovered. Im awaiting a result atm and doc says I may need kidney scan if no improvement. I wish I had never agreed to take Entresto but I beleive it has helped other people.

Thanks for your reply. Now booked for urgent kidney scan and doc has informed cardiologist. Not on any blood pressure meds, so pressure sky high. Ive always been positive with my Heart Failure, so hope kidneys improve. Its only two weeks and heart nurses said it can take longer. I like the positive outlook I get from this site. Fingers crossed and a Hapoy New Year to all.

Hi wonderfullife469. I have been on amiodarone for 10 years and have been ok except it has interfered with my thyroid function lately. I am now down to half tablet every other day whilst thyroid is being balanced. I assume you are aware that it sometimes takes up to a year to clear from body tissue. Endocrinologist hate Amiodarone but acknowledge it does the job for what it is intended. I have liver and kidney tests annually. My best wishes re your treatment.

Hi I was on entresto for a couple of years, I now have chronic kidney disease, and my eye sight is awful, blurred vision, I don't know if this drug caused it or not no one has actually said to me, it was very interesting to read that it could have thanks for posting, I have been off it since July when I got my transplant but now on so many other drugs it's hard to tell what's causing what! Wishing you a happy new year and all the best in 2021 take care char

To be honest I didn't know much about it, my consultant said it was the rolls Royce of drugs for severe heart failure, I just took it but I never checked anything about it unfortunately, my old heart was so bad nothing really would have helped it in the long run, but thankfully I was lucky enough to get a transplant, although I did wait a few years, I just hope the kidneys will be ok for a while, I do get regular checks but it is a worry char

Corneal deposits when taking Amiodarone, are a common side effect. These disappear when the medication is stopped. However if they become severe loss of sight may occur. As a matter of urgency you must disv=cuss your concerns with your GP/specialist who prescribed Amiodarone.

If you are unable to speak to your GP/Specialist please contact the pharmacy where the medicine was dispensed. The pharmacist will have access to all the necessary information and in an emergency will be able to expedite contact with your GP/Specialist

Thank you, I didn't think I really had much choice the old one was done, I had arythmogenic cardiomyopathy caused by a faulty gene, they didn't know that till they sent the old one to the lab, my two sons and brother have to get tested for it, I so hope I didn't pass it on to my boys they are 39 & 42 but I was 58 when I was diagnosed, I don't know how long they will have to wait for the tests, I hope not too long, fingers crossed for the kidneys in the new year char
