Stomach pain : Hi Philippa just a... - British Heart Fou...
Stomach pain
Hi 11walking 22.. I got some settling-down discomfort, after angioplasty. ‘The Heart doesn’t like being messed about with’ were the cardio nurse’s exact words.! It settled after a few weeks. But chest pain is always worth checking out with your GP or, if bad, call 111.
Also, Omeorazole should be helping to stop your stomach get irritated by your pills. If it isn’t it will be worth asking your GP to review. I ran through a number of -prazoles before getting one that suited.
I hope things settle down soon.
Hi. I had 3 stents a year ago and had zero discomfort at all.
But being a diabetic for 25 years plus, your mention of Metformin caught my eye.
I used to take this in my early diabetic years and it was a nightmare, stomach pains and diarrhoea both voluntary and worse still, involuntarily ☹. I stopped taking it and was given something else. Ì was reliably told that pretty much most diabetics get put on this, as it's very cheap to manufacture. I have numerous friends, also diabetics, who have had the exact same experiences on it.
Obviously, dont act on my experience. You need to discuss this with your GP/Diabetes Team.
Just thought you might be interested to know . . . I also take Clopidogrel and Asprin with no problem. Also on Omeprazole, Statins, Bisoprolol and Rythmodan amongst others.
I've been on Insulin for the past 20 years, so no more embarrassing situations 😉 thank God.
I hope you get your issues dealt with - good luck.
I have dreadful stomach pain from aspirin and when I was on clopidogrel or ticagrelor. I'm allergic to PPIs and had to take ranitidine but hat's now been banned so I am trying famotidine which isn't as good. You may need your dose increased
Ranitidine isn’t banned. It’s been withdrawn until they’ve sorted out issues with contamination at the factory. Hopefully it will return as it had fewer issues than the -prazole family which can cause osteoporosis and C. difficile infections.
I heard that they had no idea what had caused the cancer causing properties- no mention of issues at the factory. They thought it was one ingredient doing it. I do hope you are right and it comes back because famotidine isn't anywhere near as good and I'm allergic to PPIs
