I got the news first thing today that after my own dentist wouldn’t take my 2 teeth out and referred me to hospital they’ve now refused !!!!!
I have an abscess there and throbbing away, I couldn’t get my prescription as I didn’t check it and the dentist hadn’t signed it, I asked for it to be sent electronically but decided to post it so I should get it tomorrow. I’m now being referred to another dentist , I presume one who’s got more equipment. Who knows, all I know is, please someone take my tooth out before I get to the point of string and tying it to a door handle and slamming it 😡😡

This is totally unacceptable Fluffybee, I bet if you were a private patient you would have had better luck.
I am furious on your behalf 😡😠😤👿
You really have not had much luck recently have you and I am ashamed of our locals letting you down.
You must be completely fed up with all this but hoping you get your antibiotics tomorrow as expected. Nearly a week late aaarrrrgggg !
Do you know who you have been referred to ? If yes I would be ringing them to sort an appointment asap as I imagine they will want you on the anti- b,s for a few days before they remove the offending fangs 👿
Oh fluffybee nothing worse than that constant wincing throb of a toothache... really feel for you and hope it can get dealt with soon. I rang my dentist this morning and she won’t see me at all until she writes to my cardiologist to confirm whether I need a course of antibiotics prior to a check up because of risk of infective endocarditis (I have heart valve problems recently diagnosed). Goodness only knows how long it will all take to get an appointment. I wish you luck with getting that pain under control or dealt with quickly..
I work in a dental hospital and they probably need the infection to subside before they take your tooth out, if the infection is too bad the local anaesthetic doesn’t work that well and can take a good while for the patient to go numb, hopefully once you’ve got the antibiotics and they start to work the hospital will be able to do the extraction for you! Good luck 🤞
My understanding is that dentists do not extract infected teeth for fear of spreading the infection. You need to get the antibiotics and clear the infection first, especially if you are a heart patient.
I have to say I was superbly looked after by my dentist in a similar situation in the last 2 months plus. My dentist took the extreme other view attempting to save the tooth, giving me a filling that went deep into the root and eventually 3 antibiotics (One was a spare for emergency use over a holiday weekend) to settle the pain and inflammation. However when the pain flared again a few weeks later overnight I immediately got an emergency appointment on a Friday and ended up with 2 teeth removed. A bit of a shock. If Id left it another day without attention I was told I’d have been on another antibiotic and in bad pain again which I did not want to happen. Ah well I now am awaiting a sinus lift, bone graft and one tooth implant as without it the crowned tooth beside it would eventually be lost. We’ll not mention the cost! I was a private patient; very few dentists now who are totally NHS. I feel for you Fluffybee knowing the pain you’ve gone through. I hope you have better success with your new dentist and prompt attention.
So pleased you’ve managed to get yours sorted out, awful isn’t it the constant throbbing ache.
I looked into dental implants and like you say, won’t mention the cost 😱😱 so for now need to concentrate on getting this sorted ASAP but with the new lockdown not sure what will happen, lots of antibiotics I expect 😳
Sinus op sound ‘interesting’ to put it mildly, poor you, do you know when you’re having it done yet, everything is upside down again who knows what’s going to happen when, best of luck for all of that, let me know how you get on, I’ll be thinking of you 🤞🏻
Thanks Fluffybee. I’ve an appointment with the dentist early December to check how well the gum has healed after the extractions and I guess he’ll start work shortly after that. I’ve already checked and you just won’t get this treatment on the NHS so it’s either pay for the implant or have a bridge with a false tooth attached which I gather isn’t a great success. Best of luck yourself. Love your name!
I’ve still not heard from the new dentist who’s thinking of doing my dental work, I rang a couple of days ago, said they’d ring the next day with a decision, still waiting !!!!!
I’ve had a lot of trouble with my teeth, a few years ago I was diagnosed with coeliac disease, asked if it affected my tooth strength, he said no, thought it would as my vit D has never came up to normal despite supplements 🙄
