Had chest pain etc at start of a walking holiday abroad. Next 7 days walked 60 miles - kept getting out of breath. 10 days later no symptoms but went to GP who put me on aspirin and statins and referred to cardiology. Due to covid took 6 months to get scan - not conclusive but confirmed I had a problem so then angiography which shows I had an MI and mild to moderate diffuse artery narrowing. Treatment is beta-blocker and regular review. In the interim had 2 further walking holidays. Age 68 I still feel fine !

I did an hour in the gym in the morning and had a heart attack in the afternoon. No symptoms in the morning. Glad you are feeling fine!!!
Before I had my valves done I could barely walk 6 steps. That was 6 years ago. Now I walk about 6 miles every day and really miss it if I can't. I am 75 , eat a low sugar diet, all sorts of lots of veg, but not too many potatoes, some fish , some meat, some beans, lots of berries, one biscuit a day, an apple nearly every evening.
I think regular, steady exercise is the key to keeping active and certainly slowly but steadily improves your breathing. Trouble is if you stop walking for any reason it starts to fade away. I live on a hill and I can usually measure my fitness by walking steadily up it without stopping. It certainly acts as an incentive to keep moving,
