Got myself a cardioscan

Just got delivery of a cardioscan, it's going to be my best friend for the next 28 days. Advised it is better than having all those annoying electrode wires, it eases the waiting list for implantable loop surgery.

What they omitted to say is that it's quite large 😬 it's like having a pet tamagotchi on your chest, and you wear it continuously through monitoring period.

A technician in "Australia" is going to analyse my readings.

Fingers crossed tummy sleeping is managed, otherwise I'm going to have a dodgy ticker and be well tired.

Technology is wonderful isn’t it? Hope you manage to sleep ok. Will be interested to know how you get on with this.

Better than I thought one night and day one....ask me again after 28 days 🤔

Wow, that thing is definitely obtrusive, how do you get a bra and blouse on with that?! Still, tech beats the old 'we'll open you up and have a look-in', there is that. As for tummy sleeping, I'd be worried I'd dislodge it, how are you going to manage it, a cushion under the device?

Are you in Australia?

I'm in the UK. It's easier than I initially thought, it shows under clothes, the sticky plaster and the device. But luckily for me if you lie on your tummy with it as close to the pillow as possible its not too bad. It connects to the pad with really strong press studs. Not sure how I'll feel after 28 days continuous wear, but I'm not tucking all those leads into the waistband of my knickers 😂

OK, that bit about tucking the leads in your knickers has me giggling at the thought. Worth it all in the end to get answers, but the thought of leads tucking definitely is tickling my funny bone:)

I wonder why a tech in Australia is going to be reading the monitor if you're in the UK - did they explain that? Not saying anything bad about our NHS but I'm confused as to why an Aussie tech will be doing the reading instead of someone here in the UK. Oh wait, is it to do with the pandemic diverting the UK based techs to Covid only work?

Great to hear so far tummy sleeping is working out. How do you bathe, can you go in the shower with it or do you have to do a more cautious bath?

Forgive me asking all these questions but every one is a learning opportunity not only for me but others.

Can have "light" showers, no swimming or baths!! Not sure why it's data is read in Australia, it's just stated in the pack. Wish I could have gone to Australia to be monitored 😂 Hoping it gives them all the answers they need to fix me, currently 13 SVE's per minute are doing my head in!!

Not what you're looking for?
