Anyone knows what this ECG means?

I had ambulance out on sat as I had all pressure in head, eye pain, weakness down left arm, numb hand. High blood pressure 172/99.

My heart rate was fine 48. They did ECG - decided not to take me in as 6 hours after event. The ECG says sinus rhythm with borderline 1st degree av block, prolonged qt interval and possible anterior infarct - age undetermined. Inferior T Wave abnormality is non specific.

I’m trying to get in to see dr today but you know how it is since Coronavirus!

Anyone got any ideas what it all means?

Hello.. Being a peer-to-peer support group you are unlikely to get an answer as ECG interpretation is notoriously difficult. If you can't get to speak to your GP give the BHF nurses a call, they are very experienced and knowledgeable.

Thank you for the reply, I got to see my GP and he has started me on some BP medication, doing bloods tomorrow and referring me to a TIA clinic in case it was that.

It is hard to understand how long a prolonged QTc interval is without numbers or a T wave anomaly without a shape.

I suggest you ask your GP if he has access to the ECG.

Thanks for the reply - I gave the ecg report to my GP and he did not seem to bothered about it - he is going down the TIA route so I will have to wait and see. He did give me some blood pressure tablets

Dear Anxiousarabella,

ECG, is actually Short for 'Electro- Encephlograph'. From what you are Describing, and I Could be wrong here... is that 'someone' put, one of the many, Monitors the wrong way round..... It's 'Happened' to me! IF this occures then the, Up 'Spike', goes Down.

Despite the Virus, Call Your Doctors- All Of A 'Fluster', Something Is Very Wrong.... I Mean, Your Scared, Great Aunt Gertie Died Of This- Or Something Like THIS Anyway!

I KNOW that this is NOT 'in your nature' but there Are 'Times'- and this IS one of them. After all you Are, quite genuinly Anxious, aren't you Arabella!

Hi Andrew, it is very possible they put the leads upside down lol. I saw my GP and he did not seem too bothered about the ECG. He has given me some BP medication. They are doing bloods tomorrow and he is referring me to a TIA clinic in case it was that.

An ECG is an electrocardiograph.

An EEG is an electroencephalograph.

Leads cannot be placed "upside down". Sticky side down is the only way it would stick.

Leads can be placed on incorrect limbs but that would easily be picked up by the software programme.
