I had an ecg yesterday afternoon was told to call for results on Friday. After doctor finished it she told me to call back in the morning ( today ) for results. This morning I thought I would wait until this afternoon to call. Looked on my GP app and a telephone appointment had been booked for me saying urgent need to discuss ECG results. I’ve had a telephone call from doctor and she said not to worry was normal but they want to repeat the ecg and for me to go in next week so that they can compare the tests. I don’t understand why they want to repeat if they’re saying was normal. But they know I suffer with my mental health so are they just trying not to panic me. The doctor also called me last night, but it was a withheld number so I didn’t answer. Surely if it was normal there wouldn’t have been contacting me so soon? Has anyone experienced this?

Hello
I can assure you they are not deliberately calling you back knowing you have Mental health problems even though when you have it can make you feel 100 times worse
Sometimes they just don't quite get the reading they wanted for one reason or another could be the machine anything so to be on the safe side they repeat it
They are just doing their job by doing so and try and see it as a good thing that they are because I know despite the anxiety it has caused you will feel better when you know this test and the next come back fine
If your Doctor tries to phone again even though they have to withhold their number but if it was not them you could put the phone straight down but answer it and if it is them phoning talk with them as I am sure it will be a big reassurance for you
Let us know how you get on x
I’ve been getting heart rate between 40BPM & 188BMP and palpitations also numbness in legs and tingling. Happy ECG has come back normal and cannot fault my GP also been referred for nerve conduction tests.
I think it doesn't matter if it's normal or not. They are only interested in looking after you the best they can.So it would be much better for you to see them as soon as possible.
Doctors always use a withheld number when they call, makes sense else we'd all be texting for advice.
