I have severe anixety that has caused me to have really bad heart palpitations and I've even had a run of atrial tachycardia show up on my Holter monitor report. Cardiologist put me on metoprolol 25mg.xl. I was going to split them in half at first but even now that's freaking me out. My concern is that my resting heart rate is already 55-60 consistently. I know beta blockers Lower heart rate and now I'm terrified that I'm going to take it and it's going to drop my heart rate too low and im going to die. When I sleep my heart rate occasionally gets to 42 per my apple watch. Lately it's been 50-60 though.

I'm on propanolol for the same symptoms and my heart rate is much lower than it used to be with my resting heart rate at 50-60.I had a 24 hour and a 5 day ecg and yes I was clocking figures in the 40s whilst asleep. My consultant wasn't concerned at all as I wasn't feeling unwell. It certainly stopped my heart jumping to 115 just walking to the kitchen which was happening before. As long as you're not symptomatic you'll be fine.Mind you I still get the atrial arrhythmia, but you can't have everything.
Hi, I'm just curious how you are doing now a year later I am in the same situation with heart rate at 55 /60 and just going on metoprolol saying that it is dropping my heart rate even more it definitely triggers anxiety!
