Hi all,

As temperatures are so high at the moment, I wanted to share a few links about staying safe in hot weather if you're living with a heart condition.

We have an updated page on hot weather and your heart here bit.ly/3irFDIO

Our helpline team have also had lots of questions about heart failure - this article looks at how you can look after yourself when out in the sun bit.ly/321jLwi

Hope this helps

Thanks all :)

As an insomniac I find it even more difficult to sleep in this weather. I waken three or four times soaked in sweat. Get up to cool down and often change pyjamas. I'm in permanent AF and usually unaware of it . However final time I get up usually around 6 am find a noticeable faster irregular heart beat.

The weather is affecting racehorses as well. Before one race at Southwell yesterday they found that it was affecting several runners and did not run it. One horse the day before suddenly developed an irregular heart beat during a race and came to a stop.

Several years ago I had a share in one that would pass every other one on the gallops in the morning but when asked to go at full pace in races slowed to a stop.
