Does anyone else suffer with air hunger woken you during the night? Pretty frightening.

Consultant mentioned it’s because of my heart condition.

Wanted to know anyone’s experiences of it ?

Are you lying flat while sleeping? I don't have the same conditions you have but I do experience air hunger if I sleep completely flat when I'm in an acute flare of my recurrent pericarditis.

Give a wedge pillow a try, you may find sleeping with your upper body slightly elevated makes all the difference for you.

Yes I go lay flat, thank you so much hopefully help, so frightening during the night.

I’ve got my cardiologist phone call this afternoon and I’m getting really anxious about it, don’t know why, maybe because I’ve waited so long to have answers it’s finally here and don’t want to mess it up. I’ve a nice long list for him 🙄

Good for you having a prepared list of questions! Lol, some medics roll their eyes when the list appears but good medics are over the moon to have patients with the good sense to make a list so nothing is missed.

Do give sleeping with your upper body a go, I think you'll find it does make a significant difference. Air hunger is terrifying, it makes me think I'm seconds from dying. Horrible, horrible feeling!

At least on the phone I won’t see an eye roll if there is one 😂

It just seems so much worse during the night, 😢

I will, I’m building myself up to be nice but assertive, fine line, I may change my mind when the phone rings, my hands are going clammy thinking about it 🥴

At the start of my journey to redemption, I wouldn’t say boo to a goose or a cardiologist in this case. I’ve now levelled up we’re I can be more assertive. Tbh, MF has helped me with this because i now research and research and then do a bit more research and more importantly quote the research. It definitely makes them stand up and pay attention and take you more seriously. Rather than before when I was patronised that much I’m surprised they didn’t say ‘ do you want a lolly’ at the end of the appointment

yes I sleep on 3 pillows and in the middle of the night I have to waft the curtains because the windows open but I need extra air.I found a little black clip-on fan online that plugs into a USB and has a battery and it's really nice just to put on for 5 minutes every so often !!
