Anyone changed from Ramipril to Losartan

Hi, not changed to losartan but from Ramipril to Candesartan the Ramipril gave me a really irritating cough, not had a problem with Candesartan.

Yes, several years ago after Ramapril caused nausea and head pain. Losartan is one of the BP meds with the least side effects according to my pharmacist.

Yes changed from Ramipril to Losartan after a week, Ramipril caused angioedema in lower lip.

I was changed from Ramipril to Losartan after getting an irritating cough, a common side effect. Haven’t had any problem since.

I changed from Ramipril to Candesartan, years ago.

Ramipril gave me a bad cough, especially at night. At times I thought my chest would burst, it was that bad.

Since changing to Candesartan, I have had no problems.

Hi i changed from Rampril 2.5mg to Losartan 25mg. i was diagnosed as being hypertensive in February and have only just started BP medication. I was given Rampril, however it gave me a terrible cough and couldn't sleep as i would wake up coughing too. the cough was a hacking cough and it devastated my life for about two weeks with the coughing. i came off it myself after reading about the cough and made an appointment with the doctor who then put me on the Losartan 25mg. i started this about a month ago and feel great. no issues and no side effects either. BP is now between 115 -124 over 75 - 81 range. i hope that this helps you.

Hi, I too changed from Ramipril to losartan because of a cough. I was only on 25 mg of Ramipril but am now on 75 mg of Losartan so not doing their job quite as well maybe? Originally I was 25mg losartan but was told to change it to one 50mg tablet and I felt very unwell from day 1. The GP told me to split the dose 25 am and 25 pm my blood pressure remained high like 145/93 average and so added another 25mg . I feel ok on losartan but they are not doing the job Ramipril did. I don’t feel unwell but the bottom figure of my blood pressure has been as high as 101? Dr doesn’t seem concerned so??? So as well as a reply to you I guess I have a question in there too, bottom number of blood pressure too high?

I was changed from Ramapril to Losartan a few months ago after a heart attack and four stents. I’d been on Ramapril for many years for high bp.

I’ve had no problems with the change but no explanation from either the cardiologist or gp.

I changed from Ramipril to Losartan after it severely affected my bowels🥴. Not looked back.

I changed from Ramipril to Candesartan. Made no difference, which meant I don't think that was causing my (foot) problems.

I’ve recently changed to losartan from ramipril after developing cough. Took 6 weeks of phone calls with doctors and nurse and various prescriptions for inhalers , antibiotics and me actually asking to change meds as I was sure that was reason for cough, shortness of breath! They eventually agreed and within 12/14 days cough was gone and I got a full nights sleep in months!

Hi there,Changed from Ramipril to Losarten due to cough about 2 years ago. Cough completely gone and no other probs with Losarten.

Thank you for your reply Mariah, but I have come off Losartan nkw as it caused me to lose my voice.
