I've been put on 50mg Losartan as a replacement for Ramipril which was keeping me up at night coughing. I took my first pill yesterday and today I can hardly lift my arms or legs and my feet are super tingly. I know this can be a side effect but surely not after just one pill? I just wondered if anyone else had a similar reaction before I ring my doctor?
Thanks

Hello, I too changed to Losartan and it works ok after the first week or so. Apparently all these drugs ending in"tan", are designed to handle the same condition and all of them bring out the cough with different people as a side effect so it is a case of trying them and finding the right one for you. I also ran into a supply problem with Losartan and had to switch to yet another for a n umber of months but am switching back to Losartan now it is plentiful supply again. Good luck with the cough!
I also switched to Losartin, but the dose is half of yours. It took about a month for the cough to completely go, but it improved straight away. No other side effects.
I was put on Losartan in addition to Amlodipine. Ok for a week then so I'll I could hardly walk accross room,or lift my arms. Was ok for years on Amlodipine alone. GP stopped the losartan ,fine again now. Not everyone gets the same side effects, but thought I was dying with losartan.Plus half your dose
Losartan was added to my Adizem and I have had no side effects at all with Losartan. I’m on 100mg. I have had many different tablets over the years and most gave me side effects but these are fine for me. I take it first thing then take my Adizem around 4pm. I have had very high blood pressure for many years and now getting my best readings, I would talk to your GP if the side effects don’t settle. Wish you luck xxx
I was also swapped from Ramipril to Losartan but, like others, my dose is only 25mg. The cough took about 4 weeks to completely go but was considerably better within a day or two!
I also changed to Larsatan for the same reason, but on a low dose 12.5 mgs to see how I would tolerate it. However BP so low, had to stop, so just on Bisoprosol 2.5 mgs only re medication for heart. Am always tired!
