Bisoprolog has a side effect of a feeling of coldness and numbness in hands. Does this side effect fade after time or is it a permanent feature of this drug? I am taking a low dose of 2.5mg to help with ongoing palpitations but I don't want to replace one problem with another. My GP is only taking phone consultations now and he's off before I can ask additional questions and I don't want to keep ringing back and becoming a nuisance. Any additional information / advice much appreciated.

I have taken Bisoprolol on the lowest dose 1.25mg for well over a year.
I don't get numbness, but I defo do get very cold hands and feet sometimes. It's not a permanent thing, it comes and it goes.
It can take some time for the full effect to take place with Bisoprolol. Your body does adjust and get used to it, I would say that the benefits outweigh the occasional side effects.
It may be worth mentioning the side effects to your doctor and seeing if you can go down to a lower dose of 1.25mg. I believe that they can prescribe it up to 15mg.
Thank you for that. I'm supposed to take these for a month and then report back to my GP so I'll take your advice and mention the side effects then. Thanks again for your response.
Have you asked the doctor if you can email him with questions? My cardiologist and I have had an email exchange system in place since the pandemic was declared. He was reluctant at first but now is quite enthusiastic about it, lol!
I keep a list of questions on a scrap of paper then transfer it to a word.doc for editing. After the editing I copy and paste it into the body of an email and hit send - within 24 hours I have my answers.
I can't see my GP doing that - he sticks to the "10 minute" rule at the best of times, i.e. you get 10 minutes to discuss your issues. But it is worth a try. Thanks for that.
