I had a weird thing happen this morning. I have had an ICD/pace maker for 5 months. After a bad night sleep, I took my morning medication and went back to bed. Two hour later I had really bad palpitations so I took my pulse & instead of the usual 60, it was 80 and did not go lower. I contacted the pacing unit at hospital and was told to do a manual up load. The technician said he could see AF which I hadn't had before. I had a phone consultation with a doctor at my surgery who said AF was common and to have blood tests tomorrow for thyroid.
8 hrs later my pulse is still 80 and I have palpitations. I suffer from anxiety and as I am on my own my very nervous. Anyone else have this happen with their pace maker?
Thanks Jo. Since the pacemaker I have had more help and good advice from this forum than I received from consultants and doctors. Because of the virus, I could only have a telephone call from a doctor i hadn't heard of before but she did say due to the clopidogrel & aspirin I shouldn't go on blood thinners yet.
I haven't seen the cardiologist since the op and there are no follow up appointments, which annoyed the hell out of my own doctor back in January.
Again, thank you
I had a VT six weeks after a stent. I have heart failure for last 17 months and the stent was due to slight furring of one artery, the rest are fine.
I had a wobble due to breathlessness 3 weeks ago and went to hospital where they found I had a lot of fluid around the lungs. I had seen 3 doctors in the space of three months as my feet had swollen up and the breathlessness only since the ICD. I was given a month's worth of Furosemide and both disappeared but now on one tablet every two days as doctor won't give me more unless consultant says so. Today was day without and I didn't drink much this morning. Not told to restrict fluid at any time.
My husband has a PM as well and when he goes into AF we have been able to take the dates and they trace back to stress and once when he had the flu. We were told that a reading of over 120 is something to worry about. My husbands PM is set at a range with the target rate being 60.
Worry/Stress can be identifiable or subliminal but your body and heart know. There are some Apps you might want to try-Calm and Breathe are 2 good ones to try to relax. Headspace is also a great one to start to learn Meditation.
Thank you, that helps. I had a call from the pacing unit today saying they have notice several more AFs this morning me and referring me to cardiac nurses. My pulse is down to 60 again though I am still having bad palpitations now and then.
