Pulse Monitor for wrist?

I would really like a pulse monitor that I can wear on my wrist - but those I've tried so far have been very disappointing.

WHAT I NEED

- Is one that straps and measures the pulse on the wrist

- has a setting that displays the latest pulse reading clearly on the screen.

- & where the latest reading remains on the screen continuously (until the setting is changed)

AND WHAT I DON'T WANT

- Is where the latest pulse reading doesn't stay up on the screen continuously.

- one where I had to move my wrist to get the display on (a feature that doesn't really work)

- or one that is dependent on a chest monitor

If anyone has a product they can recommend I'd like to hear about it.

So far I have tried a Fitbit, Polar & Delfire - all have one or more of the above limitations.

A recommendation would be greatly appreciated.

Neil.

what about an Apple Watch? One of the face display options has the heart beat constantly displayed- takes it regularly. To see full list of readings plus resting walking and sleep range plus average per hour - you need an iPhone. The latest reading is shown on the watch itself though. Just tested bpm changed in last 30 seconds. And also just tests if you tap it brings up the main heart rate screen - looks like a pretty continuous reading. I’m looking at it and it keeps changing. Hope helps. Mine is series 7

I use an Apple Watch which I have had for about four years and it’s brilliant. It monitors your heart rate all the time and will also take an ECG for you. It will also give you AF burden. The only downside for me is the fact that I have an allergic reaction to the strap and cannot wear the one it came with but I got a much better stainless steel one on Amazon which actually holds it in place much better than the original one.

I bought elasticated ones on Amazon as I don’t get on with metal or plastic. Agree the watches are good - I’d not have known about low blood oxygen - low as 82% at night - and sometimes low in day! 😊

Thank you - certainly if I can find a good one that has this feature of continuously showing on the watch, without having to pay Apple prices, I would be very interested in knowing the make you recommend please.

sorry can only recommend Apple.

Thank you very much - So once the watch settings is set on heart rate/pulse rate , it just stays on screen - continuously updating on the watch screen for as long as you want (without anything else needing to be selected)?

yes, but you need an IPhone and you make your choices thru the IPhone Health App on what you want to display on your watch face. I have mine permanently set on heart rate as my HR is never constant, so I can see at a Glace what my HR is. An Apple Watch does many other things too. Well worth considering.

This is the display screen when you want to check your current HR yourself.

Sounds just what I need, Thank you. As long as, once the setting is on pulse, the watch face presents my heart rate continuously & until I change the setting.

What you are looking for is a Real Time heart rate monitor.Bear in mind that a mechanical pulse at the wrist is different from the heart's electrical pulse.

One might get what feels like a 'skipped' beat when it is in fact an 'extra' beat. Some wrist monitors will not pick this up,

Do you have a recommendation of one that's good?

Unfortunately not. It would have to be a continuous ECG type device. I'm not sure on what principal the Apple watch works,

my cardiologist was more than happy with my Apple Watch looking out for AF. I no longer have to take Apixiban nor did I get an ICD because I have an Apple Watch. Very very good in my opinion.

Hi there, I just bought a FITbit sense 2 device. Has a continuous ECG monitor and detects AF. Not sure if that’s what you are looking for? I like mine. Good luck in finding what you need.
