Hi Beachcomber

It would be nice to do that again soon !! ( Beachcombing I Mean )

Probably the answer is no, but I am no expert, question is why did the stenting exercise Fail ?? My Cardiologist said after my Angiogram " I think I can fix this with stents " He came back after about 1/2 hour and said. " Looked at it again and you need CABG "

When my wife asked what's the alternative it was.

He will have a Heart Attack maybe next week or next month certainly within a year So the decision was made !!!

Wish you Well. You need to sit down and have a Heart to Heart with your Cardiologist.

Still need 8 tablets a day as well !!!

Hi

Coronary Artery Bypass Graft. Sometimes referred to as Open Heart Surgery. It's the Final option for Blocked Arteries.

Why did your Stents Failed to be Completed ??

Stay Well

Stay Safe

You really need to have this conversation with your GP at a Minimum or better still your Cardiologist.

Hi Beachcomer1951

You maybe encouraged by the latest research about how to best manage people living with angina.

medscape.com/viewarticle/92...

It was previously thought that the insertion of stents or open heart surgery lead to a better long term outcome for patients rather than by medication alone.

This isn't necessarily so. I agree with Prada you need to discuss all of these issues with your Cardiology team.

Thanks again for this Milkfairy.

I was in a bit of a daze when my cardiologist diagnosed my CAD in January but he definitely referenced this study as the basis for his treatment recommendations ( mild and minimal three vessel disease - so could be worse). In fact, he said that even if the blockages has been more severe the prescription would be the same.

I’ve read this report before but missed the phrase “feel risk” which is I think very common (myself included) and worth thinking about.

I think it also emphasises the importance of lifestyle changes rather than just the meds. In many cases, it’s the disease that has to be addressed more than the blockages.

I've had 5 stents and am on 9 tablets a day... Yes you can stay on them for a long time 👍
